In NC, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle count Medicaid Expansion a victory. How can we make this bipartisan cooperation possible in #tennessee? #carecantwait
CBS Mornings@CBSMornings

More than 500,000 uninsured people in North Carolina are now getting health care coverage, thanks to a bipartisanship effort years in the making. @nancycordes spoke with officials on both sides of the aisle in the likely 2024 battleground state about how they built trust.

WATCH: “Mississippi is expanding Medicaid— will that ever happen here in Tennessee?” Retiring Rep. Sam Whitson (R) says he does, when Republicans realize they’re hurting rural hospitals & the “working poor” (TN is #1 in medical bankruptcies, has lost BILLIONS not expanding)

Rep. Sam Whitson, a Williamson Co Republican, is introducing a bill next week that would invalidate the 2014 Kelsey/Durham law placing Medicaid Expansion firmly in the hands of the #tnleg. This is an essential first step to passing expansion in TN.

There is NO Medical, Moral, or Monetary reason Tennessee should not Expand Medicaid. There is no downside. Let's at least do it before Alabama does, which may be next. There are only 9 states that haven't.
Jeff Yarbro@yarbro

Not going to lie, it’s hard to get my head around the concept of hoping Tennessee’s legislature will follow the lead of Mississippi. But here we are. By a huge margin the MS state house approved Medicaid expansion. The reason is really just math. And basic moral responsibility.
