🇿🇦 The South African Wheelchair Tennis Team is set to represent the nation at the Africa World Team Cup Qualifier in Rabat, Morocco from 30 March to 3 April 2026! The team features Mpho Mhlongo, Bongumenzi Biyela, Pheeha Machaka and captain Moleboheng Molatudi. This exciting event serves as a pathway to the Paralympics, with the winning nation earning the opportunity to represent Africa at the Global World Team Cup later in September. The South African junior teams are currently competing at the ITF/CAT J200 Cairo Africa Regional Championships U/18 in Cairo, Egypt from 22 to 27 March 2026. The U/18 boys team features Connor Doig, Dehan van Deventer, Oluhle Senti and Jeffrey Strydom, while the U/18 girls team includes Jahnie van Zyl, Allegra van der Walt, Roxy Bredenkamp and Lea Dube. The team is guided by national coaches Roxanne Clarke and Pieter Norval. In the boys’ singles, top seed Connor Doig received a first-round bye before exiting in Round 2 to Egypt’s Omar Kandil. Jeffrey Strydom and Dehan van Deventer were both eliminated in the opening round by Morocco’s Samy Iraqi and Egypt’s Mohamed Sherif respectively. Oluhle Senti secured South Africa’s only win in the boys’ draw, defeating Ondo Adjibi of Equatorial Guinea before exiting in Round 2 against Morocco’s Ali Missoum. On the girls’ side, top seed Jahnie van Zyl progressed from her bye to defeat Tunisia’s Zeinab Ayadi and Morocco’s Lina Bezza to reach the quarterfinals. Roxy Bredenkamp, seeded third, also advanced to the quarterfinals with wins over Egypt’s Habiba Habib and Sara Saad. Lea Dube battled past Zimbabwe’s Kudzai Chapepa to reach Round 2 before falling to Egypt’s Judy Tawila in the quarterfinals, while second seed Allegra van der Walt exited in Round 2 against Egypt’s Rahaf Mostafa. South African players have shown great fight at the J200 Cairo Africa Regional Championships. Unfortunately, none of the boys advanced to the quarterfinals, but the girls are still going strong, with top seed Jahnie van Zyl and Roxy Bredenkamp both securing spots in the quarterfinals. #TeamSA

The draw took place today at the ITF headquarters in London, where the two nations were officially paired. This will mark the second meeting between the two nations.
