He not only supports the town’s divide, he encourages it. By the end, the picture is clear. Support is framed as truth. Disagreement is reframed as fiction. Participation is minimized. Criticism is personalized. The tone throughout says just as much as the words. The sighs, the edge in his voice, the need to emphasize what he endured. It reads less like someone at peace with their time in office and more like someone still trying to make sense of why they were challenged at all.
