Fighting for transparency isn't just an important part of being the Opposition. Its a huge part of WHY I'm here at all.
This government has been slowly eroding democracy for nine long years. This factor is a key reason why our Opposition party exists at all.
Unfortunately they still have the majority of votes in the Legislative Assembly - so the only way to stop the erosion is with a change in government in the next election...

It’s past 2:30 a.m. and my colleague, Bryan Tepper, is about to head into the chamber to deliver another speech on the hoist motion for Bill 9. I’ll be going in around 5 or 5:30 a.m. Why? Because the NDP is trying to push through legislation that impacts Freedom of Information and transparency in British Columbia, and we are going to fight it every step of the way. Bryan spent years as a police officer working long hours serving his community. I came from construction and trucking. Early mornings, late nights, long shifts — that’s nothing new to us. They picked the wrong people if they thought we would fold because the clock got late. We put our names on the ballot to represent British Columbians, and that means showing up, staying in the fight, and standing up for your freedoms no matter how long it takes. Day or night, we’re here. And we’re not backing down.

Pretty odd opening to the second BCC debate. After being told DRIPA is the most important issue by the moderator, the discussion was opened with a land acknowledgement and then turned to a briefing from a pollster who didn’t reference DRIPA as a priority. 🤷🏼♀️

The failed Land Act Amendments of 2024 is back.
This time baked into Treaty.
As McMillan states:
“In the event government and the First Nation cannot agree on whether to enter into a Co-Management Agreement or on the terms of such an agreement, the matter would go directly to binding arbitration. The arbitration would be conducted in the context of another treaty provision that says the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (“UNDRIP”) is an “authoritative source for the interpretation” of the treaty.”
Remember, the Land Act changes failed but the Premier said this framework for co-management would be back.

Kerry-Lynne Findlay was not the Conservative Whip that forced CPC MPs to say that Canada is a genocidal state.
On the other hand, Elliott supports DRIPA, imported her campaign managers, and was a staunch BC Liberal.

When it was politically dangerous to say it, I said it anyway. DRIPA must be repealed. Not reformed. Not reviewed. Repealed. I am the only candidate who will repeal DRIPA and British Columbians know I mean it because I've been fighting this fight from the beginning.

I went to a meet and greet with @NVanCaroline, @iainblackbc, and @PeterMilobar the other night. There was only one moment where a speech was interrupted with applause, and that was when Caroline said she would get SOGI out of schools! She was also the only candidate to go out of her way to come and speak with me in person, and after talking with her, I have more confidence she will take steps to protect kids from irreversible harm and stop child transition in British Columbia. I spoke with Iain Black as well, as his campaign team was very much in agreement with me and made sure I spoke with him, but Iain tried to tell me there is a window between 16 and 18 years of age where it makes sense for some children to transition. He said he had learned this from some psychologists and psychiatrists and passed it along to Pierre Poilievre a few years ago. I have no idea where he got this idea from, but it’s categorically incorrect, and he did not want to receive proper information from me at this time. Not good. He did say he was against the sterilization of children.
