To be totally honest, I didn't really enjoy Black Ops 7 Zombies today in its current state - but I think it's salvageable? There are 3 main painpoints for me right now which I think could do with being addressed in patches: 1) The guns feels dreadful, absolutely no killing power in higher rounds. I also span the box tons and never got a Ray Gun or a Mk2 despite spinning at rounds 50+ (died on 69) and also regularly feeding Chompy. 2) The guns not killing means your points earning potential is much reduced, and being so points-poor means you're forced to play in much less fun ways just to scrounge points. I *detest* the way the points system works in BO7 right now - more than ever before it is painfully clear that this new points system really is inferior to the classic system 3) The bear, for me personally, is the most annoying elite they have ever added to the game lol. Ranged bees attack which sponges your bullets, annoying. Damage over time from swipe attack, annoying. Doesn't expose its tummy forever, annoying. Kill its 3 weakspots and it still needs 5 mags of a gold rarity pap 3 gun to kill, annoying. Pain in the ass enemy type I think all of the above are fixable / tunable in patches, and Survival mode might actually feel fun if Treyarch gets that tuning right. That said, if they leave it as is, I can't really see myself returning to Survival regularly this year, and so all the hype Treyarch is going to be trying to generate over having "3 maps in S1" is really going to fall totally flat for me. With all the above said, I can totally see a world where Ashes is fun even with the current balancing, because up to round 30 the guns felt mostly workable tbh, and the points system was annoying but slightly less of a hindrance compared to later when Pap 3 is a must. I also think Cursed might not suffer from any of these issues whatsoever seeing as it has the BO3 points system - but we know so little about Cursed that I think it's not worth bringing up for now. I will also say that I think the new Salvage changes are pretty interesting and I was more motivated to hit the box today than I have been in all 5 prior years of Modern zombies COMBINED lmao. The box feels like an important part of the flow again, and I never bothered upgrading my loadout weapon, which was a really nice change even though everything I got afterwards still sucked ass lmfao TLDR: judging the Survival mode alone (the above is NOT my stance on Ashes & Cursed), I think some serious tuning is necessary to make this mode fun and replayable, and without that I think it's just a part of the game that won't excite me all year - but if it's your thing, cool that's awesome, I am happy for you.
