In Southern Europe, irrigation runs for 6–7 months a year. Reclaimed water, high evapotranspiration, rising costs - the margin for error is narrow. Agronomist Javier Gutiérrez García on why continuous moisture data is changing how decisions get made on course: hubs.li/Q04ffm4_0 #turfRad

Two scan dates. One map. See exactly what changed between them. Select any two dates in the turfRad Portal, drag the divider, and compare soil moisture conditions side by side. Switch to Sprinkler View to see moisture levels per sprinkler head - and how many fall into each category for each date. Select any category to see exactly which heads shifted and where. #turfRadFeatures

A great visit to @lahacienda_golf in Alcaidesa, Costa del Sol 🇪🇸 Superintendent Ricardo Barón Burguete and his team are currently running a turfRad demo on the course. In regions like Southern Spain, where irrigation and water management are critical, understanding moisture distribution plays a key role in day-to-day decisions. #turfRad

The bottom right fairway looked healthy. No signs of stress. But the turfRad moisture map showed it hadn't received any irrigation overnight - something a visual check would have missed. Catch distribution gaps before they show up on the surface. #turfRad

turfRad’s first customer in France 🇫🇷 The prestigious Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche is now using turfRad to support irrigation decisions under demanding water management conditions. A strong example of data-driven turf management in practice. #turfRad

A great @turf_talk1 conversation with @turfmow on what turfRad moisture data actually changes in day-to-day turf management. “Sometimes the point is watering what you can’t yet see from the surface. It’s a proactive approach.” And from early adopter @turfmonkeyboy “As soon as I saw the heat map, I said, when can I get this?” Spotify: hubs.li/Q04cq1SP0 Apple Podcasts: hubs.li/Q04cqf3c0 #turfRad

Final reminder to join our turfRad webinar tomorrow: April 22 | 11 AM ET We’ll walk through how moisture data translates into real decisions on the course - from getting started and building a baseline to applying data in day-to-day irrigation management. The session also includes a fireside chat with @stunaugler and Paul Robertson, followed by a live Q&A. Register here: hubs.li/Q04cK4t-0

In the turfRad Portal, you can measure distance, area, and custom shapes directly on your moisture map. Use it to: • Size wet/dry areas • Examine sprinkler coverage • Plan irrigation & applications • Estimate labor or materials Built for faster, more informed decisions. #turfRad #golfcoursemanagement #precisionturf #irrigationmanagement

The first days with turfRad are about understanding how moisture behaves across your course - where it holds, where it dries, and how patterns repeat. That baseline is what leads to better decisions. You're invited to the turfRad Webinar: Turning Moisture Data into Action This session will introduce how turfRad measures root-zone moisture across the course and how that data supports more informed irrigation decisions. We’ll highlight key features, share real-world perspectives from superintendents using turfRad, and discuss Toro’s Spatial Adjust integration and how it can automate the whole process. How do you turn moisture data into actual decisions on the course? Join our webinar on April 22 (11 AM ET): hubs.ly/Q04bs4vl0 We’ll cover how turfRad measures root-zone moisture, how to turn that data into practical irrigation decisions, and how it connects with tools like Spatial Adjust - followed by a live Q&A. #turfRad #SoilMoisture

Distribution Uniformity (DU) tells you how evenly water is applied. Moisture Uniformity (MU) tells you how that water actually behaves in the soil. You can have great DU and still see inconsistent turf conditions. Understanding the difference is key to better irrigation decisions. We explored this further here: hubs.li/Q04bf8Fk0

Not all “passive sensing” technologies measure the same thing - and that difference matters. Tools like NDVI measure reflected light to show turf appearance and stress indicators. turfRad uses passive L-band microwave sensing to directly measure root-zone moisture. They may be grouped under the same category, but they produce fundamentally different data. If it doesn’t measure water, it’s not measuring moisture. Some things are easy to find. Others require advanced technology. With turfRad, root-zone soil moisture data is collected automatically during routine mowing, providing continuous full-course visibility to identify hidden dry and wet areas early and make proactive irrigation decisions based on real-time data.

Does dew affect turfRad readings? No, because turfRad doesn’t measure what’s on the surface. While some tools react to appearance or temperature, turfRad measures actual moisture in the root zone. Dew doesn’t change that.
