Death Stranding 2 runs pretty well on the Radeon RX 9070 XT at 4K. I looked at the first area checking out Ray Tracing as well, which may not be worth it. youtu.be/kuzAT-y43Ec

DLSS RR appears to do the best job with denoising and image stability in Crimson Desert vs FSR RR and lastly the games own denoiser from @HardwareUnboxed latest video. According to Tim, both DLSS and FSR RR go beyond max graphics setting making them a costly luxury feature.

The discussion about artistic intent is an interesting and valid one regarding DLSS 5 although what would that be in this case? The left with PT? Middle with RT? Or right full raster? What if Capcom approved the way DLSS 5 looked in their game? Would that make it more legit? I personally value what I think more when playing a game and how I tweak the visuals. Lighting can have dramatic effects on a game that aims for realism. DLSS 5 cranks this to 11 for better or worse thats up to you. Do I like it? I most certainly like the tech and see the potential it can have. Stuff like this is what separates PCs from other gaming platforms, options and breakthroughs in technologies. I love options. My biggest criticism about DLSS 5 would in the naming. I think calling it DLSS Neural Rendered Lighting or something would've made more sense but I look forward to seeing how tech like this can transform many games in my library.

@MitchKarajohn Not that im aware of as of right now although id imagine if someone gets optiscaler going it should technically be available as the game will think DLSS / RR is available?

I got Path Tracing to work on my AMD RX 9070XT in Resident Evil 9 Requiem. In this video we test image quality, performance and how important denoising is in Path Tracing. Will Capcom add PT and FSR Ray Regeneration in the future? youtu.be/OkYCJhscfxU

@Manic27G It would make for good comparison footage when FSR RR is added to the game.

@TerraWarePC Ray Regeneration will definitely tax the GPU heavily.. so those performance numbers are meaningless.

You don't often get to see how a good denoiser cleans up a Path Traced image in real time. This is a good example.

There is a sort of boiling effect with PT in some areas worse than others with this being the worst spot I found. It's from my video today. What hurts regular RT is that you can't turn on Ray Reconstruction and uses Capcom's which has noticeable issues. Maybe DLSS RR could bring similar improvements as Crimson Desert? Who knows lol

I've found a few issues in RE9, but that was only at 1440p. At 4K even with DLSS UP it's a different story. Only a few problematic areas I've found so far, so overall it's still great. I do wish they had some better lighting for the characters without RT, but I guess we'll start seeing more of this, right? One of the things of RT / PT was to make it easier for devs to do lighting, and here I think they already started putting less effort into certain areas when it comes to raster lighting. That said, you almost never see the character's faces except for cutscenes, so probably a good place to start cutting down.

I definitely understand when people say they dont like path tracing, mostly because of the cost, because it is really heavy. But I will say that more often than not the differences can be well worth it. In many cases the differences might not be glaring when looking at specific things, but when you take a step back and look at a full scene the overall picture is often completely different. I used this image and asked my wife which looks better and she said the one on the right. When asked why she said it looks more accurate. And that's often the goal of RT / PT. Not to make neon lights more blinding, or fully lighting up a scene with bright lights, but to make lighting behave more accurately. I think denoisers still need a bit of work but it's getting better. Remember path tracing in Cyberpunk at launch? It's a completely different experience today.

@TerraWarePC Yeah absolutely. Why cant some people just let others play their games how they want? I recently did yet another replay of Cyberpunk with PT, and loved it, but then in Doom TDA I left it disabled through my whole run. Definitely more preferable in some games.

The right is PT on AMD. I'll be uploading a video I just finished today. There was a method to force PT on AMD which has been patched with latest update but its an interesting look how PT is applied by looking at the noise and the capabilities of AMD GPU with RT which is good actually.

@TerraWarePC Interesting, not all the scene is traced, far objects, hair, and inside interior are done by classic GI methods. The face has increased sampling, I know variable sampling is a thing but usually on grid, not specific polygons.
