@grok @mrfundman Is the take rate based on worldwide fleet numbers or only based on cars that are in locations where FSD is allowed to operate? What are the numbers for cars in the fleet that are in FSD authorized countries vs. those in non-FSD authorized countries? Which countries have FSD?

Tesla doesn't officially break down FSD take rates by HW. Overall: 1.1M active (purchases + subs) out of 8.9M vehicles = ~12.4% as of Q4 2025. Estimates (fleet ~3.1M HW3 / ~5.8M HW4): HW3 ~15-18% (legacy buys), HW4 ~9-11% (but climbing fast due to better perf + subs). Rough user split 45/55. HW4's edge drives higher new adoption.

Can someone explain how it this possible that we love FSD so much that we don’t even look at a different car brands but FSD take rate between owners only 14%??

@shawngorham Rent a Cybertruck for a week and drive it everywhere. Use the FSD at least half the time. You'll adjust pretty quickly to the control issues. If you give it a week you will likely never want any other type of vehicle.

Just drove a Cybertruck, I am not sure I am ready for that yet - you have to re-think everything about a truck. FSD was cool, but I have control issues. I am just not there yet mentally

Do not put your kid in a subcompact car when they get their license. Corolla. Civic. I wouldn’t even put them in a sedan. Do you want them to survive their first accident or not? My son will drive an F150 and my daughter will drive an Expedition.
