this story is a tragedy. they could have had a self-driving car but ended up with a crappy ADAS instead. Tesla really needs to replace Basic Autopilot with something based on the FSD stack.

@JagexLight Less multi combat or non agro NPCs. Getting piled by 7 or 8 krakens at a time is ridiculous.

@wholemars We plan on subbing to FSD for our new model Y once spring rolls around. My 2022 model 3 will not see FSD unless it's capability can match current versions.

@wholemars It's just a gimmick. I checked for both my Model Y and Cybertruck with FSD in Arizona. If I select 0 miles driven, it was 10% more than my current State Farm policy. If I select 12,000 miles driven annually, it was almost 3x my current policy!

@wholemars I no longer use Autosteer. It is terrible and needs to be replaced. It can't handle bypass lanes on the highway or merging and diverging lanes. The 5mph speed cap.

Nobody actually wants Autopilot. It is completely obsolete. What they actually want is just a free option.

@niccruzpatane I think too many people don't understand the difference between autopilot and FSD. People think autopilot IS FSD then get turned off by how bad it is. Autopilot is very bad by today's standards and doesn't promote confidence in autonomous driving.

Tesla Autopilot is OFFICIALLY dead. New Model 3 & Y orders in US/Canada now come standard with Traffic-Aware Cruise Control only.
