@Gallo9119 @IanMuller2005 @Prawnter_ Didn't Aquinas die when Dante was nine? And Augustine, who also wrote about limbo, predated them both by a LONG time. The best I can find is that Dante pushed limbo in an "unprecedented direction" by applying it to unbelievers rather than unbaptized infants.

@IanMuller2005 @Gallo9119 @Prawnter_ Wait, is it the case that limbo is "not considered real"? I know the Church has no official doctrine on it, but Augustine and Aquinas both endorsed it and wrote at length about the limbo of infants. Why couldn't a similar logic apply to otherwise non-sinning unbelievers?

@Gallo9119 @TessaMMuller @Prawnter_ I was using chance synonymous with opportunity and called it “last ditch” because the atonement is after death and when most people would realize and atone for their sins.

@Gallo9119 @Prawnter_ Hmmm, that’s a really interesting perspective. It’d be cool if he created like a third party zone for the folks who didn’t care about god or sin egregiously, that way people are still being evaluated by a moral criterion.

It was 1962. Southern segregationists, fuming over the civil rights movement, hatched a plan to lash out at Northern liberals: They tricked some 200 Black Southerners into moving North with false promises of opportunity. There are dark parallels today. npr.org/2019/12/10/786…

I see what you’re saying but there’s a line between being resentful of current culture and advocating for men to mistreat women on purpose because their exist is inherently submissive and worthy of being “controlled”. Feminism did not make THAT

@francy_fimianii Not sure that advice is so actionable for the likes of Nigel Farage. I don’t really get the vibe that he’s super popular with the ladies. 🤷‍♀️
