Auburn C Connor Lew is one of the more interesting options in this draft to me to solve the Center issue in Houston. I think if Houston is looking for a center to start from week 1, they would be better off looking at guys like Hecht, Jones, Gulbin or Zuhn but if they are willing to develop a guy Lew could be a really good option. He has strong hands and a good anchor but his technique could use some work which matches with him being a young prospect who has played limited snaps.

The ceiling of the Texans offense is going to depend on the play of C.J. Stroud & the Texans weapons but the floor of the offense is so much higher than past seasons because of the additions of Braden Smith, Wyatt Teller & David Montgomery. Houston had too many dry spells and wasted possessions due to issues in short yardage and consistent run game. That should be not the case in 2026.

Michigan State C Matt Gulbin is an underrated option for Houston on day 2-3 to upgrade that position. 3 year starter at the position in the big 10 (2 years at WF and 1 year at Michigan State). Very physical player who was the 2nd highest graded center in college football.

My Texans mock draft post Wyatt Teller signing: - Peter Woods is an excellent fit as a pass rusher for Houston on the IDL. - Klare, Hecht and Rutledge give Houston legit options to develop in positions of need moving forward on offense. - Day 3 picks are based mainly off needs and reported 30 visits so far.

Early in 2025 Wyatt Teller still showed the ability to be someone you can run behind in the run game. The Browns through weeks 1-5 were 8th in Rush EPA with 2 rookie RBs. Playing through injuries seemingly weared him down throughout the season but when healthy he absolutely can help Houston’s run game.

Wyatt Teller’s dropback % with some responsibility in allowing pressure via @PFF: Weeks 1-4 (Flacco) - 16.4 (18th) Weeks 5-13: Gabriel - 15.6% (T-15th) Sanders - 0.0% (1st) In a better environment for pass pro in Houston I wonder if the pass pro can improve because he was not the main issue for Cleveland.

Kayden McDonald (#98) run defense cut-up vs Texas in 2025: Can easily fit off combo blocks and she’s off blocks to get backfield penetration and pushback. Could be an option for Houston if they stay at pick 28.

Texans OT Aireontae Ersery from weeks 15-divisional round (@PFF): 5 Games played 12 Pressures allowed 0 Sacks 73.0 PBLK Grade 71.1 TPS PBLK Grade 67.9 Gap RBLK Grade Ersery finished the season well and his improvement will likely determine the ceiling of Houston’s OL.

New Texans IOL Evan Brown (LG in these clips) had some really solid games vs good fronts in 2024 like vs Seattle (W14), LAC, GB, LA & DET. In those games Brown allowed just 3 pressures with a 75.7 PBLK Grade.

Houston really showed signs of being a good offensive team late in the season and in the wild card game vs Pittsburgh. They were in a very tough situation early in the season with: - 1st time OC - Trying to figure out best OL - Young QB with new offense - Young WR core But as the season progressed you saw improvement from everybody and the offense was playing like a much better unit until injuries and bad QB play vs New England. With OL improvement + Monty and draft upcoming with plenty of capital there is a lot of reason to be optimistic about Houston’s offense if the QB can improve as well.

The Texans will likely ask Reed Blankenship to move from his normal free safety role he’s been playing in Philly to moving around the field more (box mixed in more). I think that very well could help Blankenship play more to his strengths with a good trigger in the run game & being an excellent tackler. Asking him to do too much over the top safety stuff was rough last year and I expect Houston to try and change that.

I really like the fit of Texas A&M Guard Chase Bisontis in Houston. Obviously the last A&M guard didn’t go well but Bisontis is a very different player playing in a different offense. His pass protection was strong in each of the last 2 years while the run game still is somewhat of a work in progress. Plenty of room to grow and could be a really nice target for trade in opportunities or at 38.

Looking back at Foster Moreau’s 2022 season where he played in a similar scheme as he will in 2026 for Houston and I think I have an idea why Houston wanted him. Moreau is the first TE Houston has had in a long time that can legitimately hold their own in pass protection or run game vs edge rushers. In 63 PBLK opportunity in 2022 he allowed 0 pressures.

Jaguars Free Agent TE Johnny Mundt stood out vs the Texans in Week 10 as a run blocker. Mundt totally blew up Dylan Horton as a puller on the ETN TD run and did a really good job setting the edge vs Hunter in the second clip. Mundt has spent his entire career with McVay disciples (Mcvay, KOC, Coen) and could follow that with Caley in Houston as TE2.

Braden Smith vs Will Anderson Jr. on dropbacks longer than 2.5 seconds in Week 13: Smith’s run blocking has been his main trait over his career but nearing 30 he’ll need to rely more on his pass pro especially with the injury concerns.
Jacob@TexansJacob

.@MattBowen41 named the Texans as the perfect free agency fit for Colts OT Braden Smith. “Elevating the offensive line in front of quarterback C.J. Stroud must be a priority for the Texans, and Smith would be an upgrade over free agent right tackle Trent Brown.” Should the Texans pursue Smith in free agency?
