@ThomasG_EE @yesnicksearcy Agreed. It wouldn't surprise anyone. That's why she won't even try. That's not an insult. That's reality.

@erasmuse @charlesmurray @p_m_robinson I don't make a deliberate effort not to swear. I began swearing in the military and continue to this day over 40 years later, No, not in every situation and not at everyone but frequently.

@79Saints @BradRTorgersen @RobProvince The sucks thing goes back to the thread start not necessarily you. I am not enamored of much new music but I continue to explore older music and artists that I wasn't familiar with.

@79Saints @BradRTorgersen @RobProvince It is but our personal likes are relative and don't actually mean that other music...sucks. Because most of the time it doesn't. I might make an exception for rap which for the most part I am hard pressed to call music but even that has some good.

@TexasAmd @BradRTorgersen @RobProvince I don’t disagree. My tastes are all over the place as well… my only point was that we tend to associate the music of our teens as the best ever, and view some songs as a time machine to those memories. You Are The Sunshine by Stevie Wonder does that for me, for example

@79Saints @BradRTorgersen @RobProvince I like elements of a ton of things. I enjoy Led Zeppelin, Def Leppard, The Kinks, The Beatles, Nirvana, George Jones etc etc etc. There are good hair metal bands and bad. There are good grunge bands and bad.

@TexasAmd @BradRTorgersen @RobProvince They reveal generational shifts. For me, Hair metal was boring, but somehow grunge was even worse and why I stopped listening to new music almost entirely. But for kids hitting high school/college in 1990-91, grunge is their teenaged soundtrack, so they love it.

We literally setup a temporary special forces base inside Iran and flew in 300 Army, Navy, and AF special forces troops and little bird gun ships. Then we fought a whole mini war and killed like 1500 Iranian soldiers in 6 hours. And all we left behind was a pair of American flag underwear and some MRE’s. I’m not pro war… but holy sht we can do some amazing things.

@RobProvince Grunge was musically superior to hair metal. Grunge also has a stronger family tree pedigree to the good stuff of the sixties and seventies. There's more of Led Zeppelin in Soundgarden or Alice in Chains than there is in Poison, Ratt, or Mötley Crüe.

Americans, I think i would be best for everyone if you could just withdraw for the time being, until you have a decent, competent, well-organised person in charge again Then a lot can be mended

100,000 American troops in Europe = a free ride for Europeans? Let's check the facts. 🔹 American military bases are not free Germany, Italy, Spain, and Romania pay for the infrastructure, land, utilities, and civilian personnel of US bases. Germany alone contributes over $1 billion annually to support the American military presence on its soil. 🔹 Europe is the largest customer of the American defense industry F-35s, Patriot missiles, HIMARS, Apaches — all purchased by Europeans with real money. Every security alarm in Europe translates into contracts for Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Boeing. 🔹 American bases in Europe don't only protect Europe Ramstein in Germany coordinates operations across Africa and the Middle East. Sigonella in Italy covers the Mediterranean and North Africa. Romania secures the eastern flank and the Black Sea. These are global American strategic assets — not neighborhood security for Europeans. 🔹 Command is American, not European NATO is always led by an American Supreme Commander (SACEUR). Europe contributes troops, bases, and money — but America holds the controls. Those who control the structure are not the ones getting a free ride. 🔹 The nuclear umbrella is not altruism American nuclear deterrence in Europe keeps the dollar as the world's reserve currency, keeps European markets open to US corporations, and legitimizes American hegemony against Russia and China. But what would actually happen if America withdrew its troops from Europe? 🔹 For America — immediate strategic losses Without bases in Europe, American response time to any crisis in Europe, Africa, or the Middle East grows from hours to days. Ramstein, Sigonella, and Incirlik cannot be replaced by aircraft carriers. Infrastructure built over decades disappears overnight. 🔹 The American defense industry loses its biggest customer A Europe without the US umbrella will build its own defense industry — and fast. Airbus Military, KNDS, Leonardo, and Rheinmetall will take the contracts that Lockheed and Raytheon currently win. Billions of dollars shift from America to Europe. 🔹 The dollar weakens Dollar hegemony is partly sustained by American global military credibility. A withdrawal from Europe signals to the world that America no longer guarantees the postwar order. Alternatives — the euro, the yuan — become more attractive as global reserve options. 🔹 Russia wins without firing a single shot Not necessarily through immediate invasion — but through political influence, energy pressure, and the gradual destabilization of countries on the eastern frontier. The Baltic states, Poland, and Romania enter a security grey zone that no one can guarantee quickly. 🔹 China watches and draws conclusions about Taiwan A precedent of withdrawal from Europe sends a direct signal to Beijing: American commitments are negotiable. The cost of deterrence in the Pacific rises exponentially. Withdrawal is not isolationism. It is strategic abdication. America would not be leaving Europe because it no longer has interests there. It would be leaving while ignoring that those very interests are what make it a superpower. The "free ride" narrative doesn't describe Europe. It describes exactly what America has in Europe.

@memarsadeghi You do understand that if you are pro-war against the regime that likely means that infrastructure will be destroyed, right? This isn't patty cake being played in Iran.

I am hearing from Iranians who have always been against the Islamic Republic, always pro-US, and pro-war on the regime. They are angry about Trump targeting what they deem civilian infrastructure and economic lifeblood for rebuilding Iran.

You are right believe them . Believe that we backstopped the UK and France through two world wars and then spent our hard earned currency to rebuild western Europe and Japan. We have been the backbone of NATO for 81 years. We have protected you useless buggers in Canada for that same 81 years and all you can do is bitch when we ask for a little bit of support back. So, yes, believe what people show you. You are an ungrateful piece of garbage.

That is a good sentiment, John but I fear that there will be no mending for generations to come. Donald Trump was elected by the majority of Americans and that majority will back him, his policies and decisions come Hell or high water. Americans have shown the world exactly who they are, what they believe and how they regard their relationship with the rest of the world. As the old adage states: "When someone shows you who they are.....believe them"

The impetus for the NCSC move from Fort Jackson back to its original longtime home at Brett Hall happened chiefly in early 2018, and really picked up steam that summer and fall. I have first-hand knowledge of this because I was the project officer for the initial phases of the move. None of the reasons you stated were the reasons for the relocation. Secondly, the CNO was Admiral Richardson and the CJCS was General Dunford. Therefore, the majority of this post is materially incorrect. I'm not trying to be a contrarian, and I'm certainly not being mean. It's just that I was in center of it and what you are saying is not what happened.

Wait. Wait. Wait. I thought everyone knew about the chaplain corps move. Based on my DMs, maybe not. Navy Chaplains assigned to the Marine Corps were resistant to the cultural revolution happening across the force. So… Admiral Gilday, the avowed defender of Ibram X. Kendi, and General Mark Milley moved the entire Navy Chaplain School from South Carolina to Rhode Island to, in their words, “shift it culturally and intellectually” towards the Naval Woke College. They said it out loud. The chaplains who wouldn’t bend the knee got relocated.

Islam did not exist during the time of Cyrus the Great. The Islamic Republic are followers of Muhammad, not Cyrus. The Cyrus Cylinder preaches ancient Persian and Zoroastrian values like religious tolerance and human rights, not Islamist ideology. Do not let these Regimists gaslight you into believing they have anything in common with the great rulers of ancient Persia.
Iran Embassy SA@IraninSA

Stone Age? At a time when you were still in caves searching for fire, we were inscribing human rights on the Cyrus Cylinder. We endured the storm of Alexander and the Mongol invasions and remained; because Iran is not just a country, it is a civilization.
