For Texas Flood Awareness Week here is a message about what to do before a flood. Prepare for floods by knowing if your home is in a flood plain, finding out what roads are likely to flood, and identifying the fastest way to higher ground. More at: ready.gov/floods

Texans tap 16 billion gallons of water on an average day. In Central Texas, that water comes from the Edwards Aquifer, supplying clean drinking water to eight counties and nearly 2 million residents, including in the City of San Antonio. spectrumlocalnews.com/tx/austin/news…

Rainfall so far has produced isolated action stage rises, but with more rainfall to come, continued rises and minor to scattered moderate river flooding this weekend into early next week remains possible. #txflooding #txwx

Edwards Aquifer Authority (EAA)
Myth vs. Fact 💧 MYTH: A single rainstorm can end a drought. FACT: South-Central Texas is facing a two-year rainfall deficit. Multiple consistent rain events are needed to significantly recharge the aquifer. Why it matters: 💦 Location of rain is crucial: Rain must fall over the Edwards Aquifer Contributing Zone or Recharge Zone to replenish it. 🪨 Complex system: Water moves through various zones before reaching the aquifer that millions rely on. 🌿 Ongoing conservation is key: Water continuously leaves the aquifer to support communities and ecosystems. While a rainy weekend helps, protecting and conserving our water resources requires everyone's effort. 🤝 Did this surprise you? River rises have occurred from the past 24 hours of rainfall. With more rainfall coming, chances of Action to Minor and pockets of moderate river flooding are possible. #tx #flood
