@chuzztopher Sorry but not sorry to be the harbinger of bad news but asu is what it has been and will be forever and that is a middle of the pack type of program with a "special " season sprinkled in every now and then just like the football team.

You’ve gotta assume ASU had a year to plan for this coaching cycle, Hurley having one year left on his contract was the most obvious sign we were moving on unless a miracle happened. So ASU has had a year to look at potential candidates & come up with money from boosters & donors to get the best possible candidate? ASU being unwilling to pay a high buyout either means we think the candidate is not worth it, unprepared (should never be the case) or we are just too poor. I’m not expecting us to flip the basketball program and its funding overnight but to have a year to get the money for a buyout and/or be ready for this coaching cycle is disappointing to say the least. I could just be completely misreading the situation but from the outside looking in that’s what it looks like.

Don't forget your history, Sun Devil Nation. A Mid Season after an all time high. It has happened before. The real testament is the remainder of the season and how ASU fares next. For now, the sun will rise tomorrow.

@BDenny29 Our fans tend to be delusional. This is the best run I’ve seen in 20 something years. Progression isn’t always a straight line upwards. My main fear is the fans quitting on an 8 win team and failing to support strongly for future seasons based on unreasonable expectations.

There's a path, just like there was last year. Is it wide? Is it likely? No. But to say it's not is just being in the feels after a bad loss. Is not repeating as champs regression? Yeah, I suppose. Technically. We'll see how the last third of the season plays out. The team had back-to-back 3-win years a very short time ago. If they get to high teens/20 wins in a 2-year period, is that good? Is that forest signs of progress for a program that isn't a traditional power, or is the tree of not repeating enough to be pissed? Your mileage may vary.
