Sometimes we see artists go above and beyond in the Tezos community, in fact we see it often. A great example is found here with "tzAR: Pixel Art Anthology", a curated showcase of more than fifty pixel artists from around the globe, with a specific focus on the Tezos community. 140 pages, limited edition of 200 copies, and a free PDF available if you want to dive in right now. It reads like a field guide to the pixel art underground, the styles, the techniques, the artists quietly redrawing the boundaries of the medium one pixel at a time. "Bifröst Drift" hits in layers. The first is personal, for obvious reasons if you know me (@YinYangYoeshi). The second is that rush of nostalgia that overtakes anyone who grew up racing through Mario Kart in the 90s. Kyle's decision to capture this particular turn, on this particular track, as glitch art in an infinite loop is a quietly brilliant one. That final stretch before the finish line, where everything can unravel in an instant, frozen and looping forever in corrupted color. It captures the anxiety of the moment better than a clean screenshot ever could. More than three decades later, artists like Kyle treat these historic game assets the way a collagist treats old newspaper clippings, lifting familiar fragments out of their original context and recomposing them into something that both honors and reanimates the source. A dose of nostalgia and a genuine act of preservation. One that reignites the love and culture built around sprite-based art.

Our gem of the week is Kyle Flemmer (@WildMissingNos), a digital media artist, writer, and publisher who creates and curates art on Tezos. As an avid supporter of community development and decentralization, you can also find Kyle's work minted on platforms like @ZeroUnboundArt and @mederu_art, and some of his custom brushstrokes can even be utilized within the mederu atelier itself. Like the pixel cannabis leaves framing this first artwork in today's gem thread, 'zoot', which sets the tone immediately. Using the mederu atelier, Kyle composed a crossover scene built entirely from sprites. Hello Kitty wanders through a magical forest while little Poliwags hide among the leaves. The swirling composition and fine sprite detail do something quietly disorienting, the kind of dizzy warmth that creeps in the longer you gaze, like a contact high you didn't see coming.
