@ThaddeusPlunk @CHRISF0GLE unfortunately, that seems true. but it's more so that without law, people just trample over our human rights because a lot of people are generally terrible. but any right which involves the action of someone else (instead of the inaction) can only exist under laws.

What IS a human right, by this logic? Not food, water, or shelter, at least in modern-day society. Seriously, what doesn’t require the labor of others?

@heyitst0m @CHRISF0GLE Oh cool glad everybody can have walking sticks. Healthcare, jobs, and dignity would have been cool but hey! A stick!

@ThaddeusPlunk @CHRISF0GLE Obviously I can’t just claim property rights wherever I damn well please but if I find a stick in the woods and whittle into a walking stick - yes that becomes my property and I have a right to keep and protect it.

@HarperSanchez9 @chakravartiiin Oh yeah your "But their housing market might maybe collapse because I want it to really bad! and also they kill political dissidents!" was a really well-made point that's worthy of debating

@Jessie48178643 @CHRISF0GLE My point is that the argument "Only negative rights are rights because they are inalienable!" is a false statement and doesn't adequately prove that positive rights don't exist

@ThaddeusPlunk @CHRISF0GLE you could also look at it like- rights are concepts that the system that recognizes them concedes are intrinsically not under its authority to act in any way that would impede those the rights are guaranteed to from keeping

@jlrizzoii @rk__upadhya The govt has a lot of tools to coerce them if it wants to. Capping fees, higher taxes, eminent domain, etc.

@ThaddeusPlunk @CHRISF0GLE Amendments are only legal rights but they are not natural inalienable rights. The Federalists argued that the Bill of Rights shouldn't exist because it makes it sound like the only rights you have are the ones written in The Bill of Rights.

@ThaddeusPlunk @CHRISF0GLE I don't even think you have a right to healthcare. But let's say legally, you have the right to healthcare constitutionally then yes it would simply have been denied no removed. This doesn't mean I think it shouldn't be cheaper and more acceptable though

@sarvou @CHRISF0GLE "not been removed simply been denied" Ok then by that logic, somebody denied medical treatment for being unable to pay didn't have that right removed, they simply had it denied

@ThaddeusPlunk @CHRISF0GLE If you were to kill someone, theyre right to life has not been removed it has simply been denied. As per the nature of what it means to exist as a human Compared to a legal context where you can literaly just erase a right by signing a document, then it literally stops existing

@ThaddeusPlunk @CHRISF0GLE This is not true. Compare inalienable rights to legal rights. For example, one is extrinsic and cannot be destroyed. Meanwhile, legal rights can be destroyed by simply removing them from their legal contacts or erasing them in a legal setting.

uncritical support to the barista. i do this on purpose to stop people trying to make me decide for them when no matter what you make they will have an issue bc its, surprise, not what they actually wanted. order the vanilla latte and keep it pushing next time
