@SpaceKoala They love to hate on Elon for ambitious timelines as if he isn’t turning the impossible into merely late

The problem I have with this is that people espousing this view tend to love this screenshot as a way to mock Elon. They never bother to listen to the actual timeline given by Elon (10-20 years). They never bother to look at progress towards this goal. SpaceX went from barely flying cargo to ISS to being the backbone of US crewed spaceflight and NASA's best hope for returning humans to the moon this decade. And even if it takes 25 years for SpaceX to get humans to Mars, that will have achieved something not even NASA has ever seriously pursued.

No one’s advocating to slow innovation because a deadline is missed. But when timelines aren’t met again and again, trust erodes. Anyone, even a sole individual, should have a duty of care to make a reasonable timeframe of success, not some baseless, overly optimistic tale.

@luke_leisher_ Only point is to work with blue moon at this point. And the fact that there isn’t currently an alternative crew rated vehicle (which is a minor problem but still)

Very bizarre info from the announcement: >Starship HLS cabin won't be ready for Artemis 3 > Hoooooowever Starship might allow for low lunar orbit by Artemis 4 >SLS might be sunsetted even before Block 1 finishes its run >New Glenn explosion really hurt. >4 dudes

@star_cocktail @twoscops @Sorb3tStan It’s not free for those who use their cards in ways other than what I just described. Those are the people making credit card companies money. There is no negative consequence for me as I would be paying the same amount for goods whether I used a debit or credit card

@BrianRoemmele It was not an evacuation order. It was positioning the astronauts in a way to where if evacuation was required, it could be carried out quickly

@TrumpWo94711941 @pjdcums @MckeeganDave Easy. The part of our body that allows us to feel motion (our ears) detects acceleration, not velocity. Now the only way we detect velocity is with our eyes, but velocity must be measured relative to a fixed point, and since everything is in the same frame, no motion is perceived

@That1SpaceNerd @pjdcums @MckeeganDave how do you explain not feeling the sensation of the earths rotation and can’t account for it? you claim we move with the atmosphere but you don’t experience it.

@TrumpWo94711941 @pjdcums @MckeeganDave “Everything we see and experience” how do you explain the fact that the angle of shadows on the summer equinox is equal to a location’s latitude on a flat plane without arriving to contradictory measurements on distance to the sun?

because it goes against everything you experience. you do not experience the rotation of the earth. you do not experience the earth flying through space at a whopping 514,000 mph!!! none of the objects we see daily and nightly are affected by any of the speed and rotation??? everything we see and experience is all explained by a flat non rotating fixed plane. they will tell you its retarded for me to think that we’re not spinning and flying through space yet we experience none of it.

Earlier today, a brand new expendable Falcon Heavy center core booster, B1106, arrived in McGregor for its testing campaign. A short while later, it was raised to vertical, as SpaceX often wastes no time. @NASASpaceflight | nsf.live/mcgregor

@gatorgar It’s pretty clear to me that every venture Elon has undertaken has been with the idea of launching the products to mars or using them in some way to make humanity multiplanetary, while also being profitable on Earth of course

There’s water under the lunar surface. There are also vast caves perfect for subterranean living. One of these Boring machines used for tunneling would almost fit in a Falcon Heavy fairing, but would DEFINITELY fit in Starship. Why is no one talking about this???

@scott_jon22812 @miami_rick Actually, it opens inwards. Even if it’s a door that ends up on the outside of the aircraft when fully open, the initial movement is inwards

@miami_rick That exit opens OUTWARD. with said 12,000 lbs of pressure. It WILL blow out catastrophically and instantly eject anyone within 30 feet not securely strapped in. And also collapse the fuselage, resulting in crash. Sit down, sir.

Hear me out… Commercial jetliners fly around with their cabins pressurized to about 8.4 PSI to facilitate breathing. Type C emergency exits (like those on A-320s) have a surface area of about 10 square feet or 1,440 square inches. That means there’s over 12,000 lbs of pressure holding that exit shut against the fuselage. There is absolutely no way in the universe we live in that anyone is getting that exit open in cruise flight, so unless you enjoy long walks with Bubba in the federal prison, stop trying and give the crew and your fellow passengers a break. Thanks :)
Breaking911@Breaking911

✈️ Passengers on a Frontier Airlines flight from San Juan to Chicago reportedly restrained a man who tried to open an emergency exit door and jump from the plane mid-flight, forcing the aircraft to divert to Miami, where it landed safely.

@2006OpelMeriva @deltaIV9250 The issue isn’t getting it to LEO, it’s being able to get it through enough of the TLI to where it doesn’t need to replenish the hydrogen it lost to boil off during the first stages of the mission

@That1SpaceNerd @deltaIV9250 An Ariane 64 could (just barely) send BM Mk1 to LEO. Had the next NG flight been delayed to 2028, the most logical plan to launch Moon Base I w/o NG would be to send it on an Ariane 64 Block 2. It has the required performance, adequate fairings and needs minimal pad modifications

If blue believes they can return to flight within the next ~year they probably should just wait for Glenn to be flying again instead of trying to jury rig hydrogen to a Falcon Heavy pad. Tbh. Very happy to see Blue pushing ahead though. Per ardua
