@schuttsm @JayFratt Nobody is lowering our wages or taking our jobs. We all have collective bargaining agreements protected under RCW 41.56. If you are being taken advantage of by your employer like you said above I encourage you to unionize your workplace. Let me know if you need help with that.

Green card holders (legal permanent residents) are fine But the law explicitly strikes out legal permanent residents and says “anyone legally authorized to work according to federal law” This would include anyone on an H1B or O1 or any other type of work visa And those would most certainly drop wages as the recipients would view the visa itself as a form of compensation. Not only that, they would be much less likely to push back if given unethical orders, as their visa status would depend on them keeping the job This is a very very bad bill. If I’m wrong please point out where I’m wrong

@schuttsm @JayFratt I encourage you both to dig a little deeper on this. Green card holders have been allowed to work for fire districts for years. This allows them to also work for city fire departments. Nobody will notice any change in the service provided.

Sir, I mean this with the complete sincerity: the tech industry is getting completely destroyed by foreign workers. Wages have dropped 30%-40%, us workers being forced to train their less qualified foreign replacements. Out of work individuals having to apply to 1000+ jobs before finding a new one (taking 12 months or more). Lost homes This is reality for the firefighters if this bill passes No neither Jay and I are firefighters but we both see the clear implications of passing this bill Please stand up for your workers!

Holy cow. I just debated lobbyists on 5068. They are union reps for Teamsters and Law Enforcement. I could figure out why they were arguing with me on temp visa holders taking these civil service jobs. Then they said it would help their members …. 👇🏼

Firefighters do more than answer emergency calls. Last week, the South County Union Firefighters @IAFF1828 hosted an amazing afternoon at the Lynnwood Ice Center for the kids from the Alderwood Boys & Girls Club. With the help of members from the union's very own SnoHawks Hockey Team, the kids suited up with helmets and skates, receiving hands-on guidance to build their confidence on the ice. Once they got the hang of skating, the fun ramped up as they practiced their shots—aiming, shooting, and scoring just like real hockey players. A huge thank you to the union members and volunteers who made this special day possible!
