It is a beautiful region with a rich history and cultural legacy that belongs equally to all its people, whether Muslims, Christians, or Jews. Whether Arabs, Persians, or Turks. There doesn’t have to be war here that makes our lives so fraught. These wars are a choice, repeatedly made by a few. And those few are more often in Washington DC, not in the Middle East. If you’re in the US, tell your representatives you want nothing to do with this war. Your taxes are being siphoned away from projects that could benefit you, like better roads, healthcare, and schools, into the pockets of executives at Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and others who profit from death and destruction. Today, millions of Middle Easterners, me included, are suffering. But tomorrow, it’ll be Americans who suffer from ailing infrastructure and an economy sapped by endless wars. They are robbing us of our present, but they are robbing you of your future. Demand they end this war.
