Re: Iran: Is our nat'l security threatened? Have we a clear attainable objective? Have nonviolent means been exhausted? Is there a plausible exit strategy? Is action supported by American people? Have consequences, costs, risks been frankly analyzed? Do we have int'l support?

@Hot_Pepper76 It’s Al Stewart, and I’ll admit to knowing the voice but not particularly liking it.

"Time Passages" (1978), follow up to "Year of the Cat", produced by Alan Parsons. It was written on purpose as a sister song after Clive Davis asked for that vibe. 10 weeks at No. 1 Adult Contemporary, longest of the 1970s. Name the artist? x.com/calmalgodown/s…

Finished Caleb Carr's ALIENIST; finishable at least! 2 of 4 stars. Expostn bogged down in minutiae of NYC bldgs & neighborhoods--sometimes fun & served story, but mostly just Carr sharing research details. Cardboard characters, ending somehow both implausible and conventional.

On George Washington's ACTUAL Feb. 22 birthday, let us remember those stirring Founding Principles, as demonstrated by the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers: "Peace, Power to the People, and F--- Off!"

A tourist spot to add to the must-visit list, "it was not until the publication of Wright’s novel _The Shepherd of the HIlls_ in 1907 that Branson established itself as a true tourist mecca..."

By 2025, a sense of liberation and of being born again will repopulate cities and make us forget what happened, as our ancestors did exactly a century ago. Paolo Magrassi predicts via @AnalystSyndica1 bit.ly/38tkIT1 #cities #COVID

... such a bother... when you're writing historical novel 2, and you start hearing voices, characters who pre-date book 1, whispering their stories, like lucid dreams....

@DavidEDaveWall1 @jordan_orzoff @scalzi 4) The false-ringing disruption of Frodo and Sam's friendship when Frodo sends Sam away, a botched and unnecessary attempt to add some tension to the Minas Morgul sequence I suppose.... Those are the Big 4 IMHO....

@DavidEDaveWall1 @jordan_orzoff @scalzi 3) Killing Saruman at Osgiliath, a symptom of a larger problem: elmination of "The Scouring of the Shire," a very important chapter than completes the Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin arc. Without it Jackson resorted to an ending that's a painfully long series of dewy goodbye shots...
