They’ve released plenty of albums that performed better, but they never had a more successful single. In 2009, they covered Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon. Sadly, it doesn’t match up to The Wizard Of Oz like the original did.

In June of 1993, OKC based psychedelic rock group The Flaming Lips released their 6th and most successful album up to that point Transmissions From The Satellite Heart. Their lead single “She Don’t Use Jelly” reached #9 on the Modern Rock charts. youtu.be/cvfxKbpoxRE?si…

@TonyBones1969 @historyrock_ Zooropa was never supposed to happen in the way it did. It was supposed to be an EP to support the tour, but they turned it into a full album about half-way through production with bits and pieces and samples from the scraps of their other albums that didn’t make it.

@karenmotherof2 My 6 kids, who are all under the age of 18 know this song. And when they hear it, they sing along at the top of their lungs.

But for me, this one is truly one of the lost songs of the 90s. And outside of Canada, Lorena McKennitt was a one-hit wonder. But still an all-time great 90s song! youtu.be/qxTpvA-pUG0?si…

This fusion of styles led to “The Mummers’ Dance” to gain appeal across different genres, including Adult Contemporary, Dance, and Modern Rock here in the States. Reaching as high as 18 on the @billboardcharts Hot 100, 23 on AC, 17 on Modern Rock, and #1 on US-AAA.

Canadian singer-songwriter Lorena McKennitt landed a massive hit in 1997. The Book Of Secrets is her 6th studio album, netting 4 million sales worldwide. The blend of Celtic and Middle Eastern styles, along with Folk and Rock earned wide-spread recognition and attention.

One of the top ten performances in history, and all she does is stand there and sing—no dancers, no nose rings, no wild gimmicks, no auto-tune.

@GailEBarrett @Emotion78687 No, she actually has a social anxiety disorder. This was probably one of the most difficult performances she ever had to do because of the large crowd.

**Her career (Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star) kept going strong in a low-key, cult-favorite way.** This 1994 Bridge School set came right as "Fade Into You" blew up from their 1993 album. They dropped another record in 1996, took a long hiatus, then returned with new material in 2013. Hope also put out several solo albums with the Warm Inventions. They never chased pop stardom or gimmicks—just stayed true to their dreamy, understated style and built a dedicated following.

Unsatisfied with the final script, the project was scrapped but the music carried on as an album release in 1998. “Mungo City” was the first and most successful song released from the record, topping out at #21 on the Modern Rock charts. youtu.be/E8Rwvwu3RrE?si…

British group Spacehog was best known for “In The Meantime,” a power pop single that topped out at #2 on the Modern Rock charts here in the US and did claim the top spot on Mainstream Rock. Their debut album “Resident Alien” was recorded in a barn in Woodstock, New York.
