Mr. William Nana Nkumsah, an ex-convict recently released after serving 11 years in prison, has recounted his ordeal, alleging that he was framed, arrested, tortured, and abused by some individuals, including officers of the Ghana Police Service, in 2015. Recounting the incident with sadness, he said a woman he had entered into a car deal with later accused him of carjacking and armed robbery, an allegation he says dramatically altered the course of his life. According to him, on the fateful day in 2015, he travelled to Cape Coast with GH¢18,000 as part payment for a Volkswagen Passat he had agreed to purchase for GH¢36,000. Believing the transaction to be legitimate, he said he agreed to pay the outstanding balance within two weeks in exchange for the vehicle’s documents. However, upon reaching Kasoa, he said he was intercepted by two plain-clothed men who claimed their sister had reported the vehicle stolen.
