Developed in the 1960s, these engines used RP-1 kerosene & liquid oxygen to propel the Apollo missions, representing the most powerful single-chamber liquid rocket engines ever flown at that time. Some people keep saying “the Apollo 11 didn’t have much power”…😳 I certainly beg the differ! 7.5-MILLION pounds of thrust at takeoff, is no small energy source. & it IS INDEED an amazing engineering feat.
