@jrmallcock Monthly that is a huge £1632 increase. Assuming a 6 day working week averaging 20 covers per day. Approx £3:40 additional profit per cover required? I don't work in hospitality, not sure if that's doable...intended to help, either way it's crazy increase and I hope u survive 🤞

@finance_hipster Flipside....I've got money held in ETFs that have compounded a nice sum over the long term (even with the recent turbulence). I could cash out a % of this profit to buy those discounted assets... probably more cash than I would have in a zero compounding saver...

Why still hold cash? Because over the last 30 days $QQQ is down 15% $META is down 12% $TDOC is down 54% Meanwhile your cash still buys all the above assets at a discount right now Cash loses to inflation, but that doesn’t mean investing all your money is safer

@MrTClayts @MartinSLewis Some of that standing charge also covers network losses. These are calculated using the current wholesale price. There are various reasons for losses, such as theft of electricity or unregistered meters...but the grid uses more than it actually bills out and we foot the bill 😐

@MartinSLewis I can understand the unit rate increasing, but can you please explain to me why the standing charge of electricity has gone up by 20p per day? It's much understanding that standing charges paid for infrastructure which is already in place, so why the increase?
