Better question, Why would ICE give the child back to a dead beat father like that? That would break the child welfare protocol dumbass.

JD's argument essentially asks us to accept that federal agents are so constrained that they can't follow basic child welfare protocols. That's either incompetence or a choice to prioritize enforcement over a citizen child's welfare. Law enforcement routinely handles arrestees with children. Child Protective Services exists for exactly this situation. Citizen children's rights don't depend on their parent's status and don't evaporate on a relative's detention.

The administration is sending 1,000 more ICE agents to Minnesota. That's over 3,000 federal agents flooding our streets, almost triple the combined police forces of Minneapolis and St. Paul. ICE is sowing chaos in our communities. They need to get off our streets immediately.
