Gaze fixation is a thing. We have to use some kind of gazelimiting device to trust our observations of #nystagmus. One of the best examples I've seen came in yesterday with #BPPV

@TheBalanceNarve Kids er tilpasningsdyktige. Før var det knallharde grusbaner, asfalt og betong. Underlag er underlag, og barn adapterer.

@WardensMD Don't get me started on vertigo nomenclature. "Upbeat" nystagmus? It's vertical upward, and yes you see it in a positive Dix-Hallpike Test (which is also called the Nylen-Barany test, or Dix-Hallpike maneuver) Aargh!

Does it bother anyone else that there are 2 names for the lateral (horizontal) semicircular canal and the superior (anterior) semicircular canal and that they are used interchangeably? This madness needs to stop. 🤯
