Branded Vascepa doesn’t cost $350 anymore most insurers pay around $130 to $150 after rebates Also only the brand is FDA approved to reduce heart attacks and strokes, the generic is only approved for high triglyceride reduction. So if your doctor prescribed it for cardiovascular protection, the brand is the only option that’s actually approved for that use. CVS made the switch because of that not price.

Dear @CVSHealth. This is ridiculous. You guys pay for Brand Name Vascepa which has a cost of nearly $350 while the generic is less than $50. How is the beneficial to the patient or our healthcare system as a whole?!?!
