@oakroyd @m_jivetoaster I'm fairly sure the street parallel to GWR was called Caxton Street or Place but can't see it now on Google maps. This was before Morrison's and Barr & Stroud had buildings all the way down.

@oakroyd @m_jivetoaster I read somewhere that the gap always existed as it was the entry/exit to Caxton Print which did a lot of printing for the University of Glasgow.

@m_jivetoaster It was a gap site at least from 1906 to the 1960s. Residential flats now above the shops.
