Yvette Cooper is sending £650 million to Africa. Reform will cut this waste and cut your bills instead.

The Government will collect £331bn in income tax this year, and spend £333bn on welfare. In other words, we now spend more on people not working than we raise from those who do. And the cost? Debt per person has risen from £11.5k in 2000 (inflation adjusted) to over £41k today.

Seeing this photo made me think of him and what he said about Junior. As sort of rivals or contemporaries in Bradford coming up. He referenced a strange jumper junior used to have. 20 plus years since I sat with Bobby.

@Gabriel_Montoya Matthew Modine may get a supporting actor nod for him when the film comes out. “How we stole the world.”

@MrRoberts84 @ZackPolanski They sold the mantra “look after number 1”, “look after your own” as extensions of the age old Tory philosophy of “pull the ladder up”. It’s obscene that we’ve given up so much of what was achieved from 45-75. Inequality reduced, opportunity improved. Mass achievements.

@TheBoxingWriter @ZackPolanski That's very true mate, I sit here a lot thinking how everyone just seems to crack on living with it. Seems everyone's too afraid to even think about protesting anything, unless it's migrants of course. I definitely believe there's been a huge loss of community here.

Amazing how all the rich and greedy don't want life to be better for everyone else isn't it. We're tired of living under their boots. We're tired of breaking our backs as they get richer and we get poorer. This part isn't about hope. This part is about what's right.

I said "And this sustained project of privatisation and deregulation turned Britain from a place which made things people need to a place which made money for people who owned things." And the City said:

@MrRoberts84 @ZackPolanski Problem is Stu, simultaneous to all the lies and theft they’ve eroded our ability to protest and they’ve torn from may even the concept of opposition or the sense we deserve. It’s reeducation. I hope there will be some new focus on community and collectivism in schools too.

@TheBoxingWriter @ZackPolanski I was speaking to a colleague the other day, and he said the only way something happens is if we all do it together. To every day people, I genuinely don't see how many are going to manage. There'll come a point where I'll struggle to afford fuel to get to work.

@TheBoxingWriter @DJonesestiny @D_Raval 😂 you think they have been purging and cutting. 5 years ago they gave away free money. According to them there’s a 22bn black hole. They have done nothing of the sort. If the whole thing was audited you’d see millions wasted on things you wouldn’t have even considered.

Something genuinely different happened in British politics today. Zack Polanski gave his first major economic speech as Green Party leader and it wasn't the usual vague gestures you get from other party leaders. It was a diagnosis and a plan. The diagnosis: privatisation, austerity and Brexit haven't just been bad policy choices, they've locked Britain into a structural trap. A "bond market doom loop" where financial markets constrain every government before it's even started. The plan ("Zackonomics") is built around ending rip-off Britain for the people who actually keep this country running: → Freeze energy bills now (£8.4bn, funded by the windfall tax) → Cap rents → Nationalise water → Scrap Right to Buy → Forgive student debt → Rejoin the Customs Union and eventually the EU Funded by making wealth pay its share: a wealth tax, equalising capital gains with income tax, and closing the loopholes that let the richest opt out. Is every detail nailed down? No. But this is what it looks like when a party leader actually tries to match the scale of the problem. Britain's economic settlement is broken. Someone finally said it. #Zackonomics x.com/TheGreenParty/…

One in six private renters is now renting a former council home, often at extortionate rates – and often partly paid for by the government in the form of housing benefit. It's not just deeply unfair - it economically doesn't make any sense. standard.co.uk/news/politics/…

@1doddy83 @DJonesestiny @D_Raval People want more money in their pocket. But they need the money they have to have more power. Too many people are paying privatised prices for things that should a) be cheaper and b) be useable leavers for government. Privatisation has broken the system. Nothing left to sell.

For the record, the president of the United States is now simultaneously claiming that he has won the war, is currently winning the war, needs help to win the war, and needs no help to win the war. All to destroy the nuclear program he claims to have already destroyed last year.

@1doddy83 @DJonesestiny @D_Raval Bollacks. Half of welfare state is supporting people in work? Why don’t the corporates pay wages that allows people to afford to live. Why do we perpetuate this loop. And subsidise dividends and corporate profit. We’ve been wrecking th economy for most people since 79.

@DJonesestiny @D_Raval Take your pick! Bloated civil service, foreign aid, net zero, immigration, over spending on welfare. The country should be run as a business its overheads are all over the place! More tax is not the answer. The gov should work for the people it’s been the opposite for years
