Today through July 5th, 2026, experience a rare piece of American history up close at the George W. Bush Presidential Museum. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to view an original 1833 Peter Force copy of the Declaration of Independence. Commissioned by former Washington, D.C. mayor Peter Force, this remarkable reproduction was created using an 1820 copperplate made by William Stone to preserve the text as the original document began to fade with age. With only 1,500 copies ever made, this document is considered one of the most faithful representations of the Declaration today and offers a rare chance to connect with the nation’s founding words in a way few ever can.
