We are now to the point where Jacob Frey is temporarily suspending a practice (no-knock warrants) that he loudly and repeatedly claimed to have permanently "banned," all through last year. He had the power to do this at any time. He waited until it was too late for Amir Locke.

Not sure why some folks need to hear this still, but: One of the prices of living in a democracy is that sometimes strangers will try to talk to you about politics. You may disagree with some of them. It is entirely in your power to treat them decently and humanely.

@bzosiad Anecdata is a great word! Tho, this data is basically just the first month of the pandemic. It’s based on March of 2020 not July or even all of 2020. The data is from births in December, “nine months after COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization”

And yet, very many people I know are expecting this year! It just goes to show that a) we all live in our own bubbles and should be careful of anecdata and b) data from December 2020 is not necessarily generalizable to all of 2021!
