@NathanpmYoung If you have $100,000, it would not surprise me if you could acquire a single dose for a gray market mRNA vaccine.

@yacineMTB Use a monolithic buck converter with integrated inductor. Almost no parts to spec. For example the MPM3612

so for DC to DC conversion, my options aiui are LDOs and switching regulators. an LDO produces heat given its inputs; switching regulator is more parts. did i get the trade off right here?

@yacineMTB Because you don’t have models for all of the ICs you’re likely using, so the results are minimally useful

why couldn't you just simulate the entire PCB? like what happens electromagnetically. why? tell me why you stupid bastard

It’s actually so over for big stencil. I’m about to put the nail in the coffin. It’s now possible to 3D print stencils for 90% of PCBs, down to 0402 and 0.8mm pitch components

Holy Shit AI automates my least favorite part of pcb design. Told it to make this symbol more functional and it just did cleaning up symbols is officially a subhuman task

At the atomic level, nothing ever truly touches. What we feel as ‘touch’ is our brain interpreting electromagnetic repulsion. The object is real, the sensation is a constructed illusion.

"robotics data factory" is such a terrible space to be in there's a a gajillion overcapitalized players, all desperately sliding into LinkedIn / X DMs asking "how can we provide value?" my answer: idk, show your value by training policies vs baselines with scientific rigor

@zeroXmusashi Where's the training data coming from? Most programmers write shitty slow code. AI has learned the same .

Zuck is right about VR, most people just haven’t realized it yet because it’s still in the phase where you have to be kind of a nerd to get the most out of it. It’s sort of like the early days of the internet. The key point is that, for those who are into it, VR is *already* there. It’s not some hypothetical future thing anymore, it’s here and it’s awesome. The open question is whether it ends up having an eternal September.

So overall the security on this device is a complete joke. The first thing the mcu does is read the plain text master PIN from the flash device over SPI. A fun exercise in cybersecurity, but a entirely unsecure device. Another reminder to use a (real) password manager!

Remember that conversion from ASCII to a numeric digit is very easy, simply subtract 0x30 from the value. So 0x38 → 8 and 0x39 → 9. And clearly we’ve recovered the master PIN which was 8989

I was recently gifted a physical password manager. Obviously a bit of a silly gimmick (use a real password manager!), but it got me wondering how secure it actually is. Let’s hack it
