@leila_rx : Don't ask questions that you don't want to answer --talking about building trust in community-partnered work.

@leila_rx: Self-reflexivity begins even before the process of doing the "research." It is not only up to the researcher to define the relationship.

Carolette Norwood: There is a tendency to think of entering and working with communities with a colonial mindset: of an extractive logic, of "doing this for you." We need to be aware of how colonizing logic guides our actions as researchers.

Happening now: faculty researchers talk about their perspective on community-partnered research.

Ashlee Young: As community partners, as researchers, we have to ask, "What risk are we willing to take to ensure equity?" Sitting at the table is not enough. Systems are made of people, and people have to take the risk to do the work.

Renee Mahaffee Harris: Research can inform solutions, but using voices, engaging community itself may not change the fundamental structures that are causing the conditions of inequity. We all know the data, but we need to engage structures. Structures are linked to resources.

Meredith Shockley-Smith: Lead with the data, but the research is secondary to getting better outcomes. That is the primary goal!

@Thee_Webb: So many times,researchers are trained to attempt solving a problem that already has a solution. We need to move past this need for a study to show what people already know! That is socially-just research!
