Australia burns through 1.15 million barrels every single day.
That is 0.017% of our daily need. That is one suburban petrol station. That is what $500 million in exploration spending has produced.
Oh and it's not even crude oil. It's condensate. Which is the wrong product for the diesel shortage we're actually having.
There is no certified reserve estimate. Geoscience Australia hasn't assessed it. The fast-track approval pathway Crisafulli is demanding legally excludes the oil industry. And he hasn't even signed the bilateral agreement that would actually speed things up.
This is not a fuel security strategy.

You said the Sean Black story is from "a year ago". It's being going on much longer than that. It was first reported in the media in 2019. That's when I first tweeted PHON's resident intergalactic pencil-topper, @MRobertsQLD, about it.
And I've done so regularly since. I've included a small selection of those tweets below.
Sean Black remained employed by One Nation after being charged with rape. And then re-employed by One Nation almost immediately after being freed from prison.

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.
I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.
It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.

A Message to Americans
The United States is, unfortunately, not coming back from this. ICE is killing, assaulting, arresting, and even deporting its own American-born citizens; including combat veterans. The country has walked away from Taiwan, is once again attempting to steal Greenland, blames Ukraine for defending itself against Russia, and is trying to crush Canada through tariffs into becoming the 51st state.
It's over - and I say that with deep sadness, not any sense of glee. When Trump eventually leaves, JD Vance - another genuine psychopath - will take over.
I'm inviting all engineers, scientists, artists, medical professionals, businesspeople, and tradespeople who feel unsafe to immediately apply for Canadian citizenship. You will be safe in Canada.
