@SenDuckworth I KNOW the very same man that called John McCain a “loser” for being a POW is speaking about deferring his service because he “wasn’t a fan of that war.”?! The way he speaks, he should’ve been the FIRST one lined up to serve.

It’s insulting what Donald Trump said about Vietnam: that he didn’t serve because “he wasn’t a fan of that war.” No Veteran I know is a “fan of war," but unlike Trump, they responded when their nation called them to duty. Like true patriots. Whether or not they had a choice.

I truly commend Ava for putting a spotlight on the trauma those 5 boys (now men) endured in #WhenTheySeeUs. My heart literally broke watching it. Also, this is Trisha Meili, the sexual assault victim & survivor from that night. Just wanted to send her some love & support.

@vcvenus Their trauma is DIRECTLY tied to her trauma. It’s a tragedy ALL AROUND! I see nothing wrong with her wanting to have her case prosecuted-it’s her right. I DO see everything wrong with her or anyone else still defending HOW it was prosecuted. Still supporting her as a RAPE victim.

@Wizznilliam @YuGod185 @moekolo_ @LLearnsLove If I’m being honest, the victim was very silent on the issue until after the boys were exonerated. I don’t think she shares as much blame in this as the prosecutors, Law Enforcement, Media, etc. I do think she’s wrong by not believing the evidence, but I’m not faulting her.

@sherlybossycat Got it! I understand the outrage with her. That’s why I support her in her trauma and not her mindset. What happened to her was horrible, but I do agree that shouldn’t justify her beliefs ESPECIALLY when the evidence disproves it.

@MissSayWhat @glamourmag EXACTLY! While I understand why she got it and commend her for fight against Sexual Assualt, I’m like AT WHAT COSTS did others pay the price? This is why the convo on sexual abuse need to be held in a nuanced way. Otherwise, the wrong men are going to keep going to jail.

So @glamourmag needs a foot on their neck too for awarding #LindaFairstein with woman of the year. After all of the fucked up things she's done to further her career. I guess there were no outstanding black or latino women you could've spotlighted instead huh?! #boycottglamour

I think it’s wrong for her to continually deny what’s been dispelled, but I don’t hold her or anything. The truth is out no matter what she believes.

@Juh_Bari I understand that. But if I’m being honest, no one is talking about Trish Meili. All of the spotlight (RIGHTFULLY SO) is on those 5 men. All I was doing was sending the other victim in this some support for her trauma. Aside from her personal feelings, her trauma is important,too

@TheCynFem No, no, no. I get that she is a victim of a horrible crime. But she’s also making a choice to ignore evidence and support a system that inflicts trauma (that will actually be remembered) onto others.

@KrisDris2 @avynr How did she help? She testified about her state after the attack.She admits to being conflicted because she believes multiple ppl attacked her, but doesn’t want to wrong ppl in jail. She NEVER identified those boys. I think the anger should be towards @LindaFairstein & not her.

@Kevin_V_Ram I’m beginning to think she’s heard this narrative for so long, that she’s starting to believe it. No amount of evidence is going to make her see otherwise. Not saying anyone is wrong to think ill of her. I was just saying she should still be supported for her trauma. Is that bad?

There’s a systematic reason behind the resurgence of violence in NYC- drugs, poverty, etc. But, we aren’t talking about the entirety of NYC youths, just THESE 5 boys. Why does what you’re saying matter regarding them?

The facts that there was a 45 MINUTE window between the assualt & the boys arrival and that the boys DIDN’T even know each other SHOULD’VE been enough to not proceed with their arrest. BUT THEY PROCEEDED ANYWAYS & GOT A CONVICTION! The Justice System is trash!! #WhenTheySeeUs

@Valnofux @SuperMomIsHere2 Okay... my point is there is no evidence that THESE boys were attacking people. None of the victims identified them. I think it’s more of “wrong place, wrong time”. They were being young and stupid. Is it right? No. But neither is subjecting those boys to what they went through.
