Messing around on Illustrator making #SciFi #spaceships and the like - now that I'm getting the hang of gradients this one's coming along nicely [wip]:

New zine on mysterious phenomena, strange creatures and supernatural beasties is coming along nicely - in collaboration with the good folks at 'ISoMoCC', of course

#WritingCommunity is anyone able to recommend any good fiction/short story/flash fic #zines? Especially anything SF or fantasy genre? Thinking about starting up one of my own, would be cool to have some inspiration to draw on [and would be nice to support some existing zines]

Anyone else in the #WritingCommunity like to develop aspects of their stories with sketches/artwork? Share them below with some context about the project, I love that kind of stuff

@AnnaWillett9 I'm starting to write longhand more often - I like that it leaves me with a stack of paper after a writing session. It's good to have something tangible to show for it, rather than just a wordcount on your laptop

I’m writing most of my new novel longhand and I’m surprised at how quickly I’m progressing. I still transcribe onto laptop and write a bit more while I’m there. Anyone else wring using both?

So, a bit random, but following a conversation I had in work earlier: if you could make real any sci-fi tech or invention, what would it be? I think I'd go for Star Trek's Replicator - solves world hunger at a stroke, and would benefit the climate too [no more farmlands needed]

@TheDavidYancy I didn’t realize you were in the UK 😊 I tried to do research about your satire laws, and they seem very vague! That must be frustrating.

Does anyone know if a disclaimer (that a piece of writing is fiction and entirely made up) is enough to protect against legal action? As in, if I write a satirical piece featuring real people, but include a disclaimer at the end that it's all fabricated, can I still be sued?

@MonicaStorms Yeah I think it's a similar understanding here in the UK :)

@TheDavidYancy I'm going with gut instinct, a bit of outlining (when I start to feel like I'm drowning in the river weeds), and plow on through to the finish line, just trying to feel as though the experience of the characters is first and foremost. It's a visceral drive, really.

How does everyone write their first drafts? Do you try to use correct spelling and grammer, and a consistent tense/POV from the very start? Or do you just try to get the scenes down on the page, and make it all presentable later? #WritingCommunity
