BHEL just signed a technology transfer agreement with DRDO's Naval Science Lab to manufacture infrared signature suppression systems for Indian warships. This is stealth technology. The GT-IRSS system cools exhaust gases from naval gas turbines so enemy missiles cannot track the ship's heat signature. It is one of the most closely guarded technologies in naval warfare. Only a handful of countries have it. What makes this significant is the transfer model. DRDO developed it. BHEL will manufacture and install it on warships. This is exactly the defence-industrial model that works: lab develops, PSU scales, Navy deploys. No foreign dependency. No offset obligations. No licence fees to a European company. I have seen too many Indian defence technologies die in the lab because there was no manufacturing partner willing to scale them. BHEL stepping in as the production partner changes that equation. They already make turbines, generators, power plant equipment. Adding naval stealth systems to that portfolio is a natural extension. The broader picture: India is building warships at four shipyards simultaneously, exporting naval platforms, and now manufacturing its own stealth systems. Five years ago this sentence would have been aspirational. Today it is operational.

I had repeatedly urged the Congress government to give land to the Metro in Hebbal to build a multimodal hub, which will help in streamlining the traffic. However, despite public pressure and requests by citizen pressure groups, the government allotted the land to a private entity. The honorable High Court of Karnataka has today quashed the controversial transfer of 55 acres of prime land in Hebbal to a non-existent private entity and ordered a CBI investigation. This is a classic case of the fence eating the crop. At the outset, it was highly illogical to allot land to a Pvt entity when there was a need for land for the expansion of Metro facilitating ease of transportation and reduce traffic chaos to a major extent The honorable High Court's order is a huge win for the people. More skeletons will tumble out after the CBI investigation.
