Had some queries about Wil Malady’s absence for Vic Country today - he rolled his ankle in a marking contest in the first minute of Friday’s Champs game. There is optimism he’ll face Vic Metro. Follows frustrating groin & hamstring niggles, but has pushed into top 20 contention

@Dylfollowsdraft Do you think he has prospects of becoming a big bodied midfielder in the afl? I note he only played 2 CTL games. Rd 1: 16disp 6.1goals. Rd 2: injured?? What were the chances Gippsland were going to blood him thru the middle this year?

Caulfield defeated SKEVS today which will likely give them access to the APS Grand final. 3 big names to talk about, Wil Malady - absolutely ridiculous, haven’t looked at stats but felt like a 25 and 5 kind of game. He was…Everywhere! Neocleous… #AFL #AFLDraft

@EdPascoe_Draft Love this. Wigmore stacks up well with the numbers. Szerszyn looks like he has so much more in him but perhaps doubts himself? Looks like he plays in 2nd gear. Would love to see him unleash. Maybe I’m seeing it wrong

Thought I would do a comparison of numbers between some of the key/hybrid defender’s from the national championships and included top 5 pick Harry Dean’s numbers from last year as a comparison.

@TheDhon Not sure if he had his injury during or before that 2nd games aswell. He didn’t play anywhere close to his best in that 2nd game. That first game he had the 2nd highest of anyone for a single game.

@Dylfollowsdraft Great stuff. Very impressive. I feel your analysis and observations have improved enormously since last year. Well done. FWIW, my thoughts are very similar although I have H. Mellody in tier 1. His spatial awareness in congestion is very high level and Sheezel-like

@friendlykitties @JontyRalphsmith @jordan_mc12 How do you come to that conclusion? I love Steed but Mellody had a better tournament in every measurable capacity. Statistically, and when they needed a spark to win the game, his move into midfield was sensational. Steed was the midfield engine, Mellody was the class and impact

Claremont young gun Heath Mellody named the WA State 18s MVP award after a consistent national champs. Mellody averaged 28.3 disposals, five marks and four rebound 50s across the carnival, playing a mix of half-back and midfield. Bright future ahead! wafootball.com.au/news/mellody-w…

@Dylfollowsdraft I love your work! I’ve been obsessed with the draft for about 9-10 years now. I can’t see what the fuss is about Gus?? I see the quick hands and goal nous but there seem to be a few ahead. For example me Ethan Drever looks a far better prospect with greater upside.

@TheB00KWarren @tim_michell What role do you think it is? He doesn’t seem to have the speed to play off half back. Hes not really an inside mid. Seems to be a link up player off the back of the pack.

Best #SuperCoach picks from MSD 1. Artemis - could play this week. 2. Herbert - could play this week, more likely next. 3. Bamert - Port loves him. Will get games. 4. Fitzgerald - will play AFL this year. Versatile ball winner. 5. Annand - should play, potentially this week

@JeppaDT @WontPicHimMitch Francou seems like he could be a lot more than just a defensive mid. His physical attributes along with his rapid rate of improvement augur well for a complete hybrid inside outside mid. Remember he didn’t play last year at all

Love what I’m seeing. There is a distinct change in the way we’re moving the ball. Using the width & taking the game fwd with pace. Loved the first qtrs of McAuliffe, Ross & Sonsie. Grjl is just an energiser bunny. Makes stuff happen. It’s gonna be a fun season. #GoTiges

@Observer_AFL I think Jai Culley (MID) should get forward status too. He seems to have been alternating between inside MID and FWD. What are your thoughts?

Melbourne Demons DPP Watchlist 😈🔴🔵 This will be the biggest post yet, with so many potential changes we're hearing out of Melbourne training reports Harrison Petty (FWD) - Has been confirmed he will shift back to defence, seems like it's pretty much a yearly thing now he moves back and forth, they might as well just leave him as a DEF/FWD to start each season - 🔒 Koltyn Tholstrup (FWD) - I've heard talk of him playing some halfback in match sims, not sure he is best 23 though, but one that could happen if he hits the games requirement - 🤔 Xavier Lindsay (MID) - I love this one, sounds like he has a halfback role and it makes so much sense, has some serious upside in all forms of Fantasy Classic/Draft/Keeper Leagues - ✅ Caleb Windsor (DEF) - Not much surprise here, should pickup MID status early with the CBA action he is predicted to get, and what has already been seen in match sims - 🔒 Trent Rivers (DEF) - Predicted to see a fair uptick in CBA this season, I think this one is pretty safe to assume some early MID status is coming - ✅ Tom Sparrow (FWD) - Every year he pops his head in for periods of time as a potential breakout midfielder and then dies off, I think this year we see a solid MID/FWD split and an early shout to gain DPP - 🤔 Have you heard any other potential role changes at Melbourne? 👇

#SuperCoach Rookies & Others: GWS 🧡🖤 Match Simulation 13/02/26 🗒️ 👇 - Tommy Green 599.9k MID has cruelly done a suspected ACL. 💀 - Finn Callaghan 605.5k MID sat out the simulation due to glute and hip flexor soreness. - Toby Greene 441.8k FWD has been tipped to increase his midfield minutes. “Hopefully, we can get (Toby) more as a midfielder this year. I think he’s got some attributes that, one, he reads the play very well. He’s strong around the contest, and hopefully it’ll sway more midfield than forward." 👀 Assistant coach Ben Hart proclaimed. - Jack Ough 119.9k MID has also been touted as a "ready made replacement if we lose Tom" 👀 He played through the middle and did nothing wrong. - Brent Daniels 300.3k FWD "is like a new player back into the Giants' best 23". He played across half-forward and on ball 👀 - Clayton Oliver 500.3k MID played 3/4 quarters before heading off and doing some extra running work. - Nich Madden 325.8k RUCK kicked 5 sausages but was beaten by Kieran Briggs 429.5k RUCK in the guts, but coincidentally was beaten by Jake Riccardi 372.8k RUCK/FWD when he was moved into the middle.

#SuperCoach Rookies & others ➡️ Match Simulation notes 13/2/26 📝 WCE 🦅 - If you're not picking Josh Lindsay 122.5k DEF then probably time to clear the team and start again. ✅ - Harry Schoenberg 119.9k MID pushing up as a high half forward, kicked 2 in 3 mins. - Dev Robbo 119.9k FWD played midfield, wing & forward 👀 - Duursma 203.k MID played on the wing kicked a nice sausage. - Jacob Newton 119.9k FWD didn't do anything wrong at all coming from the mid season draft. Richmond 🐯 - Sam Cumming 176.5k MID played exclusively though the midfield and definitely is an option. - Sam Lalor 298.6k FWD again played through the guts and is still in consideration for me. - Taj Hotton 267.9k FWD kicked 4 sausages and was BOG 👀 ✅ - Sam Grlj 172k DEF/MID ran accross half back and linked up as he pleased, again an option. - Patty Retschko 119.9k MID played on the wing and ran all game. NOTE THAT TARANTO HAS BEEN QUOTED SAYING; "Hopefully I can go forward and kick a few goals"... This gives me super confidence in the Tigers rookies....👀 Collingwood ⚫️⚪️ - Angus Anderson 113.5k MID started on the A team and played through the middle. 👀 - Harvey Harrison 126k FWD started on the A team and pushed up accordingly. - Tyan Prindable 113.5k MID started on the B team then switched over at halftime, although a lot of players did this. 🧐 - Josh Daicos 525.4k DEF was literally everywhere in the midfield: BOG 🥇 North 🦘 - We can just about 🔐 Lachy Dovaston onto the forward bench 136k FWD, who pushed up high into the contest and kicked 3 sausages in the 3rd. - Colby Mckercher not the deepest defender ,Caleb Daniel was, although absolutely loved the handball receives, the new rules will suit him to a tee, then moved into the middle when they changed it up. Adelaide 🐦‍⬛ - Lachlan McAndrew 119.9k RUCK seems to be the preferred starter over ROB, was all over him the first quarter and wasn't beaten in the 2nd, teams changed over at 1/2 time. 📈📈 - Rachele 369.6k FWD pick in my opinion is dead, definitely going to be a star but the persistency of huge CBA's wasn't there, I'm not enticed now, I could be swayed though...📉 - Brayden Cook 158.7k FWD playing as a rebounding halfback in the B team, I don't think is a pick anymore. 📉 Essendon ✈️ - DP3 334.6k MID was just class in the middle doing whatever he wanted. 🔒 - Dyson Sharp 149.5k MID, started at high half forward then moved into the midfield alongside Parish, Merrett & co. Another one I think we can 🔒 in. - Hussien El Achkar 113.5k was a classic goal sneak with class inside the forward 50. Will be a volatile pick if named. Thank to all those who shared their thoughts today! 👏

Melbourne Training Notes – February 4 🔴 Injury / Availability Watch - CJ running + light kicking. - Jack Viney not involved at all, I'm really worried about his 2026 capaign. - Melksham, Salem, AJ, AMW, Petty, Kentfield all either running laps or light drills at the far end. - Bailey Laurie on the bike, no boots, called it quites early with AJ. - No Steven May. No Kalani. 🔵 System / Drill Watch - F50 re-entry drill over and over. - Clear focus on lowering the eyes and hitting shallow entry targets. - If it’s deep, it’s deep to pockets. Set up for boundary throw-ins and let Max go to work. - Feels very deliberate and methodical. 🔴 Ruck / Structure Notes - Max’s hand guard noticeably smaller — workload hasn’t changed at all. - Big Max "Moose" Heath looks a serious pickup. Absolute unit. - With Tom Campbell’s neck issue, Heath is clearly the No.2 ruck right now. 🔵 Player Spotters - Jeffo looks sharp. Working defenders under the ball and finishing well. - Windsor’s speed is obvious, but his tackling and spoiling stood out, even got Koz a couple of times. - Latrelle, just wow. Sidesteps through traffic, hits the gas toward goal. Moves exactly like his cousin. Special. 🔴 Selection Watch - Xav Taylor plays Round 1 in my opinion. He’s trained well enough and with Salem, AMW and Bowey all out lock it in. - Key Defender Logjam 👀 Lever, Turner, May, McDonald, Petty, Howes, Adams. Can’t play them all. From the sessions I’ve seen, TMac and Lever have been the standouts. May plays half the year at reserves level for me. Any questions? Ask away. #DemonSpirit @The_DeeBrief

@TheDhon @freodockers Darcy scared me on arrival, doing a separate warm up over to the side... Thought he might have been injured, but was there when match sim started and actually started really well. I'm tracking him for both AF & SC 👀 Judd McVee was good on 🟣 side, but Luke Ryan got used more.
