First Draft Rankings for 2026. Expecting a fair bit of movement after the championships conclude once I’ve seen more of the interstate prospects.

@TheDhon Probably things that can be coached but I’ve found a few times his direct opponent wins a stoppage he is usually a fair way off him or not really working hard to get back to them. Compare that to Steed who either wins it or makes sure his opponent doesn’t.

@EdPascoe_Draft You mentioned on lunchtime catch up that you felt Drever had quite a few things to work on. Can you elaborate a little on what those things are? Thanks mate

Thought I would do a comparison of numbers between some of the key/hybrid defender’s from the national championships and included top 5 pick Harry Dean’s numbers from last year as a comparison.

And here is the average for disposal efficiency (Notes did not want to cooperate with the red line underneath a few, couldn’t change like all the others 🤷‍♂️)

@Bic88 Bradley could fall anywhere between 10-40 at the moment with Wigmore a bit tougher to rate not quite being key position height. A club that needs a type like Wigmore might take him in the 2nd round but could just as easily slide.

@TheDhon Szerszyn has had an interrupted start to the year so still working into the season but I thought his champs was pretty decent. His one on one defending against bigger players could improve but he has some nice tools, wouldn’t mind seeing him on a wing aswell.

@EdPascoe_Draft Love this. Wigmore stacks up well with the numbers. Szerszyn looks like he has so much more in him but perhaps doubts himself? Looks like he plays in 2nd gear. Would love to see him unleash. Maybe I’m seeing it wrong

@TheDhon Not sure if he had his injury during or before that 2nd games aswell. He didn’t play anywhere close to his best in that 2nd game. That first game he had the 2nd highest of anyone for a single game.

Here is the top 10 for average metres gained from the national championships.

He has coped a lot of flack from the supporters but Zach Merrett should always deserve the adoration and respect from them. Massive today showing he hasn’t checked out, they will be much worse without him.

@FootyLock6 Not usually actually it’s the one area I want him to keep improving on, better signs the last few games

The key forwards for VM have been far too much for VC with the speed of ball movement up the field in the first half. Woolhouse and Gayfer have 3 each and Leeder has 2 and VM lead 81 to 12.

@FootyLock6 He is a very impressive athlete unlike Morris. Morris at this stage is a smarter forward but Gayfer has some serious upside for sure.

A decent first game with VM for Woolhouse kicking 5 goals. VM with a massive win against VC 131 to 39. Macgowan another prolific game with 29 disposals and a goal and Van Hattum dominated the ruck in his best game of the champs.

You won’t find many smoother players in this years draft than Toby Krasna, 25 disposals and a goal against Oakleigh. Thanks @FootyStuffYT for the clip.

@BourkeJustin I like him with the ball but it’s his contest work that I need to see a big improvement on to have in that top 30 conversation.

@davjoh Solid half back but I don’t think he has the weapons to be in the top 30 bracket. I do like his composure.

Allies fight back to record a win against WA by 6 points. Mellody with 30D tried hard in the midfield but without Steed for the last quarter they struggled to get the win. Caylen Murray and bottom ager Jake Beams among the best for Allies.

@EdPascoe_Draft Anyone got a clip of Cody Walker on the wing in the last 5 minutes where he wins the one on one and then hits the foward up lace out

Sam Tassone (22D) and Jack Slattery (4G) have gotten SA to a 1 point win over VC. Cody Walker was massive for VC with 35 disposals with Archie Elliott kicking 4.2. Tassone was instrumental with his run from half back.
