First Draft Rankings for 2026. Expecting a fair bit of movement after the championships conclude once I’ve seen more of the interstate prospects.

@ScooterMcNeice Langford has been solid but Merrett has clearly been our best. One of the only players willing to be physical defensively.

Just the basics of football at an all time low. I get injuries but it was happening well before they came. We are just a poor team re fundamentals. Langford for me has been our best so far.

@Trats1999 He was solid, looks a latter pick for me atm but champs could change things.

@EdPascoe_Draft What did you think of Jack Leys?

Thoughts on the SA18s who played on the weekend. Thought Jack Eime showed a lot of potential as a running half back in the Darcy Wilmot mould, Edwards and Herbert played their usual game and I liked the composure of Jacob McNicol although his kicking could be tidied up a tad.

Would like to nickname Sully Robey as ‘The Hitman’ as he is a real sharp shooter. Just doesn’t miss his chances in front of goal.

@Addyant23 I thought he contested pretty well when in the middle he just doesn’t have the body for it at this stage.

@EdPascoe_Draft There aren't weaknesses in Mellody's game as a HB. Perhaps contest work in midfield is the unknown trait but very well rounded player

Just finished watching the WA U18 vs U20 game. Leo Steed worked hard through the middle and match winner George Gale showed great workrate on a wing. Heath Mellody was all class playing mostly half back and midfield and 2027 prospect Axel Walsh was fantastic in the ruck.

For the U20 team Blake Kelly was a workhorse in the midfield, Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves showed a lot of class playing half back and wing and hybrid defender Jake Soutar was tough and composed.

Impressive speed from 194cm Key Defender Mason McGroder who has represented Australia in Long Jump, might be a player to watch as the season progresses. Thanks to @FootyStuffYT for the clip

Almost a huge day out for Northern Knights prospect Harrison Leeder kicking 3.6 to go with 15 disposals and 8 marks. The Jack Gunston style of player could be one of the first key forwards taken in the 2026 draft.

Good speed on him, might get a look in for the Suns Academy in the future.

@EdPascoe_Draft @SilentGhost263 In your opinion. This year crop (take out dougie and cody), if you had top 2 pick, how strong is it compared to last 2 to 3 years.

Genuine Question. the clubs plan is to hit the draft hard until 2027 and get as much young talent in the door before Tasmania joins. If we get the wooden spoon this year does that make the year a success or a failure? 🤔🤔🤔

@ooi_eujin @SilentGhost263 HVH is right up there with CDT, impressive athlete and player. Butler I don’t have in that range yet but has some high end potential.

Just because they are labelled clone doesn't make them generational. Dovaston was said to be a clone of nick Watson. But so far he is no where near the wizard. Butler is not generational. @EdPascoe_Draft hey ed can you help with your opinion (always respect your opinion). 1. Is HVH better then CDT 2. Is butler or HVH generational talent like reid duursma Rowell etc

@ScooterMcNeice @luiscalleo Go from Pearl Jams Vs album would be mine but there are so many great album openers. A lesser known would be Live Without You from Gyroscopes Cohesion album, a great aussie band.

@luiscalleo Might seem obvious but remembering the first time I heard track 1, Smells like teen spirit. It sincerely blew my mind and started a love of grunge

What’s the greatest opening track on any rock album?

Nic Martin is such a massive loss to the Essendon team arguably the biggest area Essendon don’t have depth in. He should help transform the Essendon midfield next year with his class and running power.

@nickclif16 Has some upside, not sure he will end up getting drafted more likely as a maturer ruck next year in the MSD but I expect him to come close to Country selection this year.

@Panos__16 Bit too early for me to say, I think it’s looking a little deeper in the 2nd round range but things could obviously change. I still think 2027 will be much better than both even with Tasmania Pre-listing talent.

@Tommy_Wolfe7 Yep absolutely he plays finals style footy. Szerszyn should hopefully be back very soon to show his stuff.

@EdPascoe_Draft Love this list. I originally had Patterson at six but got cold feet and slid him to about 12 in my first rankings. Can see him rising right up as the year goes on. Love that you rate Szerszyn too. He’s been a bit out of sight out of mind
