What we can't understand is why some people who prefer digital games get angry at those of us fighting to keep physical games.
This has never been about taking away digital. It's about preserving choice.
Physical gamers didn't get upset when digital became an option. We simply accepted that everyone should be free to buy games the way they want.
So why is it a problem when we're trying to make sure physical remains an option too?

I checked my own games just now and I can not launch my digital games, can't verify licenses AND I could download any other games.
I will say that this was a temporary issue and I can access them now but the point still stands. An all digital age is NOT ideal.

Which market exactly?
PC and console gaming are completely different ecosystems. PC already had open platforms, multiple storefronts, free online multiplayer, and a long history of digital distribution. Consoles are closed systems with different economics, hardware costs, and player expectations. You can’t just transplant the PC experience and assume the same growth will happen.
And if this all-digital future eventually slides further into pure streaming, that’s the most extreme version of “you own nothing”: the game can disappear from the service tomorrow, you have zero offline access, latency and compression are permanent trade-offs, and you’re just renting temporary access with zero residual value.
