This is an interesting statement made by an advocate in the area of narcissism. “Stay away from the people who trusted your abuser’s narrative about you without even bothering to ask you directly.” Why would we do this without attempting to sort things out if our relationship with our children or family members or friends are at stake? We should just stay away from them? Those of us who have been targeted understand how brazen the lies & manipulation of predators are. Predators can convince someone that up is down and down is up. It is not always the fault of another person if they are manipulated. It is heartbreaking to lose relationships with friends and family because of the predator’s often convincing campaign of destruction. Maintain relationships where you can! Sometimes it is possible to override the predator campaign of destruction through education and discussion. Not always, but sometimes. I include ways to do this in my book, ‘Human Predators: Groundbreaking Insights into the Red Flags Narcissists, Psychopaths and Manipulators Don’t Want you to Know’. While I’m sure everyone is doing their best, not everyone educating in this field has healthy recommendations. 30 years of experience working with teams, individuals and executive groups leads me to believe that a person who might make a comment like the one in inverted commas does not have close ties to others, none worth fighting for. Be discerning in considering what might work for you.

Notice the actual sequence here, because it's happened before and it tells you something about how durable any of these protections really are. Trump shrank these same two monuments in his first term. Biden reversed it. Trump has now done it again, by roughly the same ninety percent figure, which means the entire fate of one of America's most significant tribal cultural landscapes now depends entirely on which party wins the next election, over and over, indefinitely. That instability is itself the harm, separate from whatever eventually gets mined or drilled. Davina Smith-Idjesa's actual complaint isn't abstract policy disagreement. It's that federal officials skipped legally required consultation with the tribes whose ancestors' footprints, ceremonial sites, and traditional medicines are physically located on this land, for the second time in under a decade. A living cultural site doesn't get to pause its significance while Washington decides, every four to eight years, whether it's worth protecting this cycle. The Supreme Court has already declined to let Utah simply seize this land outright last year. What it hasn't resolved is whether a president can legally shrink an existing monument's boundaries at all under the Antiquities Act, a genuinely open legal question this reduction is functionally daring courts to finally answer.
