@NewstalkFM This was so heartbreaking. This woman is so distraught. I can't even imagine the pain of having to do, what she is doing, to try get her help. How has it come to this.

A mother of a young intellectually disabled woman has said she had no choice but to abandon her daughter in an emergency department.
The mother, who asked to be called Anna, said she had no choice but to take drastic action because she feared for her own safety and that of her two younger children.
On Lunchtime Live, Anna described her oldest daughter as “quite challenging” but had received little support from the State, despite repeated requests.

The work of The Ditch in exposing scandal after scandal, including criminality at the very top of Irish society, leading to resignations and convictions, is simply astounding. The Ditch is a shinning example of the power of journalism to do good. They’re legends. ❤️

'They were told not only did they not need the surgery, the child didn’t even have the condition. Didn’t even have the condition. Let that sink in. That is what is happening to the children of Ireland. And I say this: there is not enough urgency in government.'

We live in a world where male violence and misogyny is driving women’s trauma and crises, no one will even name the true cause, no one will hold men accountable, no one will accept the levels of trauma and distress in women and girls’ lives, instead increasingly diagnosing them as mentally ill, hysterical, borderline and psychotic - but full headlines are written about men’s mental health being affected because someone said something they did gives them the ‘ick’.
We might be on the same pitch, sisters, but we are playing by different rules.
Our suffering means nothing. Their comfort means everything.

The cruelty of the State is repugnant. From challenging the rights of children to access mainstream education, to Hep C, to Joanne Hayes’s compensation for a misogynyistic crucifixion, to the Cervical Check women, and now to the Air Corps. None of this is in my name. #RTÉUpfront
