Here's a little story of the utter BS that taxes are in Texas. Little Elm ISD issues a $40M bond to build a school. The city then issues a PID (essentially a local development tax) for building infrastructure related to the school. Little Elm ISD cancels the school citing declining enrollment numbers. The City and ISD keep the money. The local tax payers are still paying the PID annually and will continue to do so until 2055.
