Back in the day, social housing was almost exclusively the responsibility of local councils. You got your name on the list and (various factors allowing) you were allocated a place to live, with indoor toilets and hot water from the tap, when you got near the top. Now we live in the age of housing associations. These took over the councils' role (and housing housing stocks) and originally operated within a defined area. But favoured associations spread. To the point where today there might be three, four or more operating in your area. This often results in turf wars, takeovers, and other features that should be absent from what should be a public service. Since they were privatised, most housing associations seem to focus on private housing for sale on the open market. Often marketed as 'affordable' properties. But no one seems able to define 'affordable'. Though private companies, they still receive @WelshGovernment funding. Perhaps because many are run by Labour cronies and other political activists of a 'progressive' hue. This then results in certain groups, often described as 'disadvantaged', or 'priority cases', getting preferential treatment: everything from 'refugees' to problem families from God knows where. With local people invariably losing out. A priority for the next administration in Corruption Bay should be putting this system back on track. With a return to providing social housing for rent, rather than building properties for sale as holiday homes in areas such as Pembrokeshire. Priority given to those with strong local connections. And an end to public funding for any housing association that does not comply.

The wrongly labelled ‘fourth major’ in Saudi Arabia ends after just two years. A sorry episode in snooker, with disappointment and regret the overriding emotions for me. I was never comfortable with it on moral grounds. I will never get my head round those who loudly backed it.

I really like the London marathon, and have run it a few times. But it's important to tell the truth. This is just stupid. @LondonMarathon, you don't appear to know what you are asking.

Andrew Amos is standing up for the rights of children to go through a normal uninterrupted puberty so that they can become healthy whole adults who can have their own children should they wish. This is normal rational medical practice. So he is suspended by medical organisations who want to wreck the bodies of children. This is terrifying.

Placements at Parkruns don't really matter. Sometimes I'll finish 30th with a quicker time than when I've finished the same course in 20th place. What matters most is the time that you finish in. Which is ultimately just you competing with yourself. Nobody else.
