We've played "Grave Day at the Canal" for "I Ain't Been Shot Mum" before, but credit to the author, this one is very different. The Germans shoved a platoon over the canal, but they're out of smoke and the British are waiting.

Some wicked German ambushes follow by armored knife fighting have the Soviets on the back foot in the early going of this Battle of Prokharovka for "O Group", but there's still a lot of time on the clock.

With "Le Grande Battles" (?) nearly -- nearly! -- here, it was high time to spool up and bring to standard my current library of games. This is Epic Eggmuhl and Salamanca. Much more to do.

I will always give the Commands and Colors system credit for providing a tight, brisk game with nip-and-tuck endings. Tonight, Epic Ilipa went for the Carthaginians, but only just. Scipio and Masinissa were both carried from the field.

The Battle of Lissa left crews decimated, ships shattered (one taken by each side), and admiralities wondering who they left in charge of either fleet. Still, "Wooden Ships and Iron Men" was a good time. We'll be back.

@LibertyForAll19 We started with the Basic Rules and then quickly added the advanced. I play with old wargaming hands, but there were very few real challenges.

I've played it. A lot. First game I ever bought. Took years to really understand what was going on. The strangest thing is that it assumes you know a fair amount about military organization, viz.: squad, platoon, &c. Scale is also wild to accommodate the text.
