@afneil Dressing up in suits and uniforms is “performative drivel”. You’re the pro-Establishment dinosaur who’s out of touch with the majority of the British public.

@peterjbirks We were chatting about this last week. We highlighted a previous meetup and wondered when it was. Turned out to be fifteen years ago. Scary.

When did it come about that all the things which happened "just the other day" turned out to have been events which occurred 10 years ago?

@elvenmaidinn It's okay. A lot of stuff is shifting to avoid religious overtones. We have some friction here with Easter Eggs losing the Easter or Christmas be iming the Holidays. At least it's not China or India changing all the cities.

My son brought his "books" from school yesterday as it was Last Day of school and I took one of them to have a read and I was stunned by "History Book". English is my secondary Language and I was stunned by what I learned. So I always thought, everyone use the standard naming of years, Ancient History is is referred as BC and modern History AD, and this is what I was rolling with my entire life. 2000 BC means - 2000 years before Christ was Born. BC = Before Christ. 2026 AD - means 2026 years after Christ - AD stands for Latin Anno Domini and its translated as "In the year of our Lord". Apparently I was wrong... because some bellends replaced BC as BCE and AD as CE, and I was like What The Fuck? BCE - Yeah I heard about it, but I though its Before Christ Era, but it apparently means "Before Common Era" and AD - "In the year of our Lord" was replaced by CE - Common Era. I don't know how bout you guys, but fuck that, I am staying with BC and AD, fuck whoever decided to change that (According to Grok Jewish Scholars in 1800 🤣🤣🤣)

@RiderLapierre @Anniepop2027 @LBC And that initial number was zero, as it should be for all of us. He is not exactly laying his cards on the table. And I bet he goes on holiday next week.

@Anniepop2027 @LBC Anne, I have a theory here. Do you think it possible that, as a politician, he may be telling porkies?

@KirstieMAllsopp @andyburnham @UKLabour Kirstie, they aren't magicians. There is probably nothing they can do short term, and anything radical could be a rocky ride. Then there is strong probability that they will be even worse than Starmer.

Please can @andyburnham and @UKLabour have a quick look around and see that our economy is in very real trouble. Spend this weekend enjoying your new roles, by all means, but please on Monday get the hell on with it!

To whom it may concern in Europe: This is not a chicken burger. There is no such thing as a chicken burger. A burger is only a burger if it is made of hamburger meat. Hamburger is not a reference to an animal, but to a style of meat that is ground into strings like this. They are primarily made with beef, but might also be made of turkey or bison. Putting chicken into a hamburger bun does not make it a burger any more than putting meatballs in a hot dog bun makes them into hot dogs. thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, America

@miniature832 Oh, I didn't for a minute think Warhammer Lore. I left it behind at first edition as I don't get on with stats rows.

@DreamsUnchartd I would say chicken burger is ommon terminology here but is usually a piece of chicken. So what do you call KFC? A chicken sandwich?

We still refer to those as "burgers" colloquially, but if you ever ask an American whether a veggie burger is really a burger the answer you will almost universally get is no. We call them burgers because that's what they're pretending to be. We don't think about chicken sandwiches that way, though. To us, burgers and chicken sandwiches are completely separate categories.

@msiggins Might want to read a bit more carefully there. Nobody grinds chicken into hamburger, and certainly not on the sandwich pictured here.

@DreamsUnchartd I did already my research! "The classic hamburger is defined by The Patty: The defining feature is ground meat, typically beef, formed into a flat, round shape. While beef is traditional, patties can also be made from turkey, chicken, bison, or plant-based alternatives."

The business of America is business, and the business of medieval warfare is sieges. Lots of things would affect the success of a siege: a number of besiegers, the size of the garrison, the geographical positioning of the city or castle, the presence of neighbouring supporters or enemies, recent victory in battle, and many many more. The problem from a game using a 1D6 dice is that the modifier salad can generate so many positives that victory is guaranteed, or if negatives then the fortification is invulnerable. That seldom seems to be the case in reality. Accordingly, a modifier salad needs either to be capped, or some results of the die roll apply unmodified. For example, a 6 is always a success, and of course a 1 is always a failure. But reading Matthew Strickland's book on the Young King has reminded me that the one item we do need to have in a medieval siege is mercenaries. Whether from Flanders or Brabant, these skilled professionals and dreadful plunderers really do have effects on sieges. As King Richard would give evidence.

Was reading Ferguson's "The Cash Nexus" this morning. Still relevant. Introduction notes at how bad most people are at economic decisions, often even making choices that ultimately are bad for themselves, let alone the economy.

@CynthiaLIVE It is my main skill. It makes for a horrible life. If you point out those problems, and/or extrapolate from them, you acquire a negative reputation. I think it is useful, but not many share that belief.

I'd like to propose a new entry into higher education. One where admissions are based solely on how well you can identify a problem, not your potential to solve one.
