Our hearts go out to Gary’s family during this incredibly difficult time.
The team here at Podcast Radio was privileged to call Gary a true friend and colleague. His warmth, dedication, and remarkable passion for his work left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Re: reaching voters in North Carolina. @elonmusk we've been trying to get (absolutely) anyone to return calls/emails from election campaign. Podcast Radio Carolinas is an all-speech radio station and we can't get a simple conversation on ad spend. Is this how elections are won?
English

This is cool. Note - for a new attempt at managing my screen sanity - I watched this in black and white. It may be much better that way.

@alexiskold I think it should be part of the first slide
The first slide should sell and close the deal on its own. 5-7 bullet points that sell the deal. Like a great cold email should sell the deal on its own.
Then it matters less where slides 2-200 are
English

I will never change my mind on this:
Team slide in the deck not being second or third is a huge red flag 🚩
Why?
You need to signal who is speaking, why you have experience and authority, give your background and passion before the audience can trust you!
Putting team slide on the bottom is a WEAK MOVE!
English

@MacConwell @KarenWhitworth Very impressed with this perspective. Would love to pitch.
English

@KarenWhitworth 100% agree. This is why we give founders leeway to pitch however they are most comfortable. With or without a deck in the style they prefer because we'll still get the information we need either way
English

A reminder, every VC looms for different things. Personally, I'm not a fan of the team slide early in a deck. That's also because how I was directed by VCs when I was a founder. So what one investor thinks is a weak move another might like.

@KarenWhitworth @MacConwell What a clever way to say it! For an industry - or perhaps better described as a 'space' - the investment world looks for disruptors... but cringes (punishes?) a deck out of order. Amazing lack of flexibility.
English

@MacConwell Stuff like this highlights why I feel the traditional early stage startup pitch and fundraising process is dysfunctional. Decks are a static. The audience is not.

@JohnBarnesUK @DaveSpencerUK Totally agree. Something more than special about it, right?
English

@DarrelFrater Would be very exciting. Open to it. But bringing my 2 year old with his little London accent.

@DarrelFrater Sign me up. Interested to tell your Serac story on our network of broadcast radio stations too.

@bobstev53681908 @GiuliaBould @bbcmerseyside @snellyradio @hellierd Roma owner back in the front-running (by some margin) to buy Everton. *Seemed* as though it is thoroughly advanced and could be within a few days to a solid announcement.
English

BREAKING: I'm on @bbcmerseyside with @snellyradio in the next 15 mins to bring you the news that The Friedkin Group are in advanced talks to buy #EFC
You will hear from Bloomberg's @hellierd who has broken this news and has much more detail

@andrewjscott Was in a room in NZ once, where the question was asked of an MP's official assistant why MPs get such large salaries compared to teachers. Answer: to keep the role 'incorruptible'. Surprised me at first, but I was impressed the more I thought on it. Similar logic to your post.
English

CEO of a country is as important as a job gets. If we paid our Prime Ministers properly eg £1m a year, there could be zero gifts, extra earnings or personal expenses. MPs should also be paid ~500k with the same rules. Breach the rules? Instantly fired. bbc.com/news/articles/…

Hi @RiversideLondon took the family to see There's a Monster in Your Show today. Loved it, wonderful, right on! Favour: took a selfie using the qr code for the Monster backdrop while the family was in the bathroom. Now can't find the qr code anywhere online!! 2 year old NEEDS it.
