You start overthinking every conversation, every apology, every "I care about you," wondering if it's genuine or just another temporary feeling. Eventually, you realize betrayal doesn't just break your heart—it steals your peace, your confidence, and your ability to feel safe around people who never earned your fear in the first place. Still, I'd rather be someone who loved sincerely than someone who never allowed themselves to feel at all. Trust may leave scars, but those scars are proof that my heart was real. The wrong people turned my kindness into a weakness, but the right ones will remind me it was never a flaw. Until then, I'll keep protecting my peace, not because I stopped believing in people, but because I've finally learned that trust should be earned, not freely borrowed.
