Shakespeare was nothing but a school subject. The only relevant media was the current one that we grew up in. Thats how it is for most peoples childhoods.

Film literacy among young people is at an all time low. My gen z students are shockingly unfamiliar with many key landmarks of modern cinema that were released in the 1990s

A 1980s kid would be aware of two Psycho sequels and should at least inquire about their origins. Same with 2010’s True Grit.

Most Millennials will at least watch movies from up to 20 or 30 years before they were born. Nearly every Millennial would've seen Star Wars OT, Jaws, Alien, Indiana Jones trilogy, BTTF, etc.
