The assessment should determine, the judge wrote, whether the prisoner is "presently suffering from a disease or defect rendering him physically unable to participate in trial proceedings" that go from 9-to-5 on weekdays.

The judge ordered, among other things, a geriatric evaluation of the prisoner, who is 61 and has been in U.S. custody since 2002. Mr. Nashiri was so brutally treated and isolated by the C.I.A. that his subsequent confessions at Guantánamo cannot be used against him. He has PTSD.

Sobering facts about Chud the Builder’s legal situation
Matt Forney@mattforney

Everyone getting mad at me for not leaping to Chud the Builder's defense is a moron who doesn't understand the is-ought distinction. Let me walk you through this using baby language. Chud will be charged with attempted voluntary manslaughter under Tennessee § 39-13-211. This is a class C felony punishable with 3-15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He WILL be charged. No DA wants to establish the precedent that IRL streamers can cause public disturbances, shoot people, and walk. Even if the DA is sympathetic to Chud, he will be under immense public pressure to charge him. There is a very good chance the case never goes to trial. The vast majority of criminal cases end in plea deals, not jury trials. If there is even a whiff of a chance Chud could be acquitted by a jury, the DA will amp up the pressure to make him accept a plea deal. DAs love plea deals because they allow them to goose conviction rates and because jury trials are expensive and time-consuming. There are any number of means by which the DA can twist Chud's arm into accepting a shitty plea deal. The most obvious one is throwing him in county lockup and waiting out the clock until the day before the right to a speedy trial expires. DAs do this FREQUENTLY; a friend of mine who shot a black guy in self-defense was held in jail for YEARS because he refused to plea out and insisted on going to trial. Does Chud have the wherewithal to stick it out in jail for that long? He will either be sharing a cell block with black criminals who will be beating the shit out of "the n-word cracka" every day or he will be put in solitary for his own safety. Solitary confinement is so damaging to inmates that it shows up on brain scans. Chud is very unlikely to get bail because based on his antics as a streamer, the nature of his offense, public pressure, and his prior arrest history, the judge will deem him a flight risk and a threat to public order. If he does get bail, it will be insanely high (bail for class C felonies can be set as high as $250,000) and he will be barred from leaving the state. If he goes back to streaming like he normally does, it will almost certainly end in another incident that sends him right back to jail. Let's assume Chud goes to trial. The pressure to convict will be high. I can foresee the prosecutor arguing that Chud shouting the n-word at black people constitutes "fighting words" (a doctrine in both Tennessee and federal law, see Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire) and thus the black guy who attacked him should be let off. His history as an IRL streamer who intentionally creates public scenes will be used by the prosecution. His defense team will surely argue self-defense, which they should, but can that overcome the public pressure to convict a racist anti-Semitic groyper who makes videos harassing black people? He's in a terrible situation. And for anyone comparing Chud to Kyle Rittenhouse, you're wrong for these reasons: 1) Rittenhouse was not seeking conflict. Chud's entire career is about starting shit. 2) Rittenhouse was inherently sympathetic as a clean-cut white kid. Chud is a racist anti-Semitic groyper with a chomostache. 3) Rittenhouse's "victims" were white. Chud shot a black guy. Should Chud be found guilty at trial, his past history of arrests and disruptive behavior will likely result in the judge giving him a harsh sentence. There will also be, again, immense public pressure to throw the book at him. If you come at me with something like "oh you think it's OKAY for black people to assault white people", you missed the point entirely and are too retarded for this discussion. Chud might be justified in defending himself. He might not deserve to go to prison. But as Clint Eastwood said, deserve's got nothing to do with it. The justice system has every incentive to bring the hammer down on him, which is why he's a retard for putting himself in this situation.

I wonder if @AIPAC will conclude from this debacle that trying to hide support for a candidate is likely to backfire, and they should just do it with their chest going forward. I’d welcome that development, would love to not have to spend time chasing these fake PACs.

Israel the victim??? If narcissism were a crime, this could be added to the lot to be considered by the court.
Israel Foreign Ministry@IsraelMFA

Today, the @nytimes chose to publish one of the worst blood libels ever to appear in the modern press. In an unfathomable inversion of reality, and through an endless stream of baseless lies, propagandist Nicholas Kristof turns the victim into the accused. Israel - whose citizens were the victims of the most horrific sexual crimes committed by Hamas on October 7, and whose hostages were later subjected to further sexual abuse - is portrayed as the guilty party. This publication is no coincidence. It is part of a false and well-orchestrated anti-Israel campaign aimed at placing Israel on the UN Secretary-General’s blacklist. Israel will fight these lies with the truth - and the truth will prevail.

🚨 MASSIVE SNUB ALERT — Trump touched down in Beijing, and Xi Jinping couldn’t even be bothered to show up at the airport. Zero handshake from the Chinese leader. No red carpet photo-op with the big guy himself (The Whitehouse is spinning it as red carpet treatment though Xi has met far smaller country's leaders personally). Instead? The U.S. Ambassador, China’s Vice President, and a couple of foreign ministry suits standing there like it’s some low-stakes business trip. Look at the video — Trump stepping off Air Force One into a sea of cameras and staff, while the so-called “grand welcome” is nowhere near the level you’d expect for the president of the United States The White House is desperately calling this “red carpet treatment.” Give me a break. This is the same summit they quietly downgraded before wheels even left the ground. No real agenda, no big concessions on the table, just vague talk and photo-ops. And get this Trump dragged America’s top corporate titans halfway across the planet with him. CEOs worth trillions, ready to fight for better deals. China’s response? Treat the United States like some third rate country that can be kept waiting on the tarmac. This is Beijing sending a very clear message: they think they’re the ones in charge now. Trump’s walking into the lion’s den with zero leverage and not many cards to play.
THE ISLANDER@IslanderWORLD

Zelensky’s former chief of staff just got dragged into court for money laundering and the details read like a fever dream. Andrey Yermak, the guy who ran Zelensky’s office for years, wasn’t picking Ukraine’s prime minister, prosecutor general or health minister based on talent or war needs. Court records show he was texting a feng shui mystic called “Veronika” the birth dates of candidates so she could give the cosmic thumbs up. She even told him to “cling to power at any cost” and he swore he would. This is the same inner circle now caught in a sprawling money laundering scheme of industrial proportions involving luxury real estate built with dirty cash — even sand illegally ripped out of a cemetery. Reports say Zelensky himself is listed as one of the co-owners of the development. Sound familiar? Remember the golden toilet scandal? That was Zelensky’s old business partner Timur Mindich, the man who co-owned his production company and lived in the same building where Zelensky partied on his birthday complete with a solid gold toilet and cupboards stuffed with bags of cash. Mindich fled to Israel the second the heat came on. But this isn’t one mystic or one toilet. This is the system. Some estimates put it at upwards of 20-30 percent of all the Western aid sent to Ukraine, that’s tens possibly hundreds of billions of dollars vanishing into industrial scale graft, kickbacks and sweetheart deals run by the connected elite while the country burns and bleeds out. Hundreds of billions poured in to “defend democracy,” and a massive slice of it ends up buying golden bathrooms and mystic consultations for the puppet president’s boys. This is the regime the West has been propping up with your taxes. A clown show where decisions are made by astrologers and the grift never stops.

NEW: e.l.f Cosmetics co-founder is set to become a Catholic priest after abandoning his wealthy and luxurious life. At the age of 42, Scott Vincent Borba gave up his fortune and entered the seminary. Now at 52 years of age, Borba, a former actor, designer, model and singer, is set to be ordained on May 23 in Visalia by the Diocese of Fresno. "We ran around with the likes of, Paris Hilton, and partying with Kardashians and just doing up the Hollywood life. I was a poster boy for luxury living. I was not in any which way humble. I was very prideful," he said during an interview. "I asked our Lord to help me be the man that he created me to be." "And upon that instance, I had this massive flood of love and mercy that came into my life. It was a very mystical experience." What an amazing story.

Trump’s pressure tactics are hitting a wall. They may work on weaker players — but not on Iran, not on Russia, and not on China. And with Iran turning into a geopolitical and PR disaster for Washington, Trump is heading into tougher talks from a weaker position.
